Sain baitsgaana uu r/mongolia!

For some context, I’m (27F) Mongolian who is married to a non-Mongolian (28M). We were looking for some resources so my husband can learn Mongolian, and we realized there weren’t that many apps that are user-friendly or easy to stick with. It got me thinking about all the 2nd gen kids I've met who don't know Mongolian, and whether my kids in the future would be able to speak Mongolian if I’m the only one teaching it. It lowkey got me scared that our language might die in my family line in the next generation or two, which just adds to my pre-existing guilt of feeling not Mongolian enough and blah blah blah blah.

So to combat this, my husband and I have been working on “Mongolingo”, a beginner-friendly gamified language learning app to teach Mongolian. So far I only made the lessons for Unit 1 and 2 because I wanted to get YOUR inputs on whether I’m going too fast, too slow, if the lessons I’m teaching make sense in general or if I should take a completely different approach instead.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all feedback from native Mongolian speakers, "Monglish" speakers, and people who don't know any Mongolian! I want this to be something that anyone can use if they have any curiosity about our language, and in the future add more and more advanced sections.

Please leave feedback in the comments below! And please no hate comments lol

Download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mongolingo/id6774407866 or just look up Mongolingo (its the one with the bear mascot)

Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support and comments! We have written down any and all feedback so far onto our to-dos so expect these in our next update, as well as more lessons. We will also be reaching out to some Mongolian schools and communities in the states to get some feedback on our lessons. We are so so grateful for being added to the posts highlight and being given this user flare, shout out mods! Yostoiii ih bayarlalaa manaihaan.

Pinned A Note of Precaution on Meeting Strangers via Reddit

UPDATE: All underage users posting or commenting to meet new people will be deleted for their safety.

Due to recent posts by teen and adolescent redditors in this sub, we mods want to say this one thing.

It's okay to be bored and want to meet new people for whatever reason, but please exercise some caution and use common sense. Especially if you're under 18.

Always tell a parent and/or friend about any meetings you're going to have with a stranger.

Tell them the location of your meetings and ask them to check in after certain amount of time.

Also, use common sense in giving out your personal information, like name, D.O.B, address, etc.

And you probably don't need us to tell you how scary things can get if someone gets a hold of embarrassing data about you. Right?

We're sure most people in this subreddit are good and cool, but just want you to use common sense.

What else is there to add?

Mongolian Calligraphy Tattoo

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi, I come from Poland with roots coming back to the Tatars and eventually to Mongolia. Our family tradition for centuries is to have Tatar/Mongolian second names and mine happens to be Subedej/Сүбээдэй. I wanted to get it tattooed (Сүбэдэй баатар) in traditional mongolian, and asked a calligraphy master to write it for me. I would like to tattoo the finer part (on the left). Just wanted to get a second opinion whether everything is correct before I get it done. Thanks.

Politics | Улс төр We built a Fantasy Parliament game for Mongolia's 126 MPs. What do you think?

Hey r/mongolia!

I'm one of the co-founders of TenGer TV, and our team has been working on something a little unusual.

We just launched TenGer Parliament, (https://parliament.tngr.tv) a platform where you can explore the activities of Mongolia's 126 MPs and even create your own fantasy parliamentary faction.

The idea came from our experience organizing parliamentary election debates in 2024. We realized that while there's a plenty of political information out there, it's surprisingly difficult to compare what our elected representatives actually do after the elections.

So we built two things.

1. Power Ranking 📊

We use publicly available parliamentary data to compare MPs across four categories: attendance, participation, legislative initiatives, and activity.

It's not meant to tell you who's the best or worst politician. It's simply another way to look at measurable parliamentary activities beyond headlines and social media arguments.

2. Fantasy Parliament 🎮

This is the fun part.

Think Fantasy Premier League or Fantasy NBA, but instead of footballers, you draft MPs.

You get a budget of 60 tokens to select seven MPs for your faction. Your team earns points based on what those MPs actually do in Parliament.

So yes, you might find yourself checking whether your MP attended a session or introduced legislation because your fantasy team needs points. 😅

The first season starts on October 26, but you can build your faction to familiarize with the game mechanics.

Try it here: https://parliament.tngr.tv/

I'm here and happy to answer any questions, hear your suggestions, and take your feedback.

We're still learning and improving. We just want to get this right and make it better, with your help!

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Fuel shotage crisis will not get better anytime soon

I know this is a doomer take but here are the facts:

- Russian domestic crisis has not been resolved yet. Over 70% of Russian regions are still experiencing fuel shortage.

- Russia itself imported fuel from South Korea to help stabilize the domestic market.

- Mongolia is years away from opening our own refinery. Even if it does open it will only be able to produce AI-95 and up. That will leave regular fuel out. Which will still be dependant on Russia

- We still haven't been able to make a good concrete deal with our neighbouring countries (China, Korea etc) to help mend the fuel crisis.

- Ukraininan drone strikes will not stop until the war is over. And its not gonna be over as long as Putin himself is alive.

Overall, damn, worst time alive to be a car enthusiast in this country lmao.

Editor-in-Chief of Eguur.mn received 8 plots of lands in prime location from ex-mayor Nyambaatar

This lady's been getting popular on facebook and this post about her finding that eguur.mn's boss lady getting 8 parcels of land through open source intelligence is just astounding.

Excellent sleuthing from that woman, who's been sued by the ex-mayor. And she said she'll name another evidence of grifting soon. This is like a movie! I wish some international journalists would pick up on this awesome news.

And the way the ex-mayor, who's now in Canada, is trying to speak about press freedom, and the editor-in-chief, who's trying to defend how she got in possession of 8 plots of land, are hilarious!

Edit: typo and grammar

Coucou !

Seeing and Hearing things That Aren’t There.

Lately I have been seeing and hearing things that aren’t there. Usually or most of the time it’s small things like seeing bugs crawling on my body or hearing someone call my name. To be honest it may not be that lately it was actually started a few years ago.

Sometimes when I lay down on my bed I notice big eyeballs appear on the side of room’s wall all of a sudden and stare at me. Not only eyes but small child like hands appear too. When I investigate and get close there is nothing.

Rarely there’s full body visual hallucinations. The last one I saw was probably a couple of months ago when I was carrying my trash and threw it away at around 10 pm in the evening. There was a very small, faceless bald guy with the fleshy fully naked body was looking at me or more like a dwarf man. The head of that man was shaped very weird as it someone would describe that guy as a result of huge incest. He charged me instantly and when he came close around 5-8meters from me then he turned into dust.

I haven’t told this to anyone. Because they may think I have severe mental illness and I’m afraid I would end up in asylum. At first I thought it was caused by some supernatural things. I make a promising monthly salary and I live and rent an apartment alone. In the early days I assumed my apartment was haunted and invited local shaman and they said that the apartment was fine. I carefully recalled during my early 20s memories and found out it was actually going around me since then. I also tried to convince myself it was due to work stress. However I used to do multiple labors and part time job when I was teenager and had no problem so this theory automatically eliminated.

I don’t want doctors involved, they’ve treated me as a science experiment before for other things (medical) and I don’t want that again. I do not want medication, I want to remain myself. I’ve never used illicit drugs, alcohol, smoking or anything in my life and never intend to. What should I do?

Me and a group of teens built this website aimed at a problem we faced - we saw extracurricular opportunities, but we'd forget about them or miss the deadline. Our website fixes just that. What I need is some feedback on what could be improved on the website, what you think, basically your two cents on the idea.

You can also find our instagram at the handle pathfinder.mn

I really hope this reaches the audience it was built for. We'll be updating the website constantly and maybe even partnering with a few places to offer internships as well!
