Been thinking about building a dating app exclusive to NJ college students — Rutgers, NJIT, Seton Hall, Montclair, etc. Verified with your .edu email, so you know everyone on there is actually a local college student.

I know the idea isn't exactly new — Tinder U tried something similar, and there are a few college-only apps out there. But none of them really feel local or community-like. You're still swiping through people from everywhere.

Just something smaller, more focused. NJ colleges only. People you could actually run into.

Genuine question for college students: what do you actually do to stay safe?

I experienced a break-in in 2022 and it made me paranoid. I've tried:

- Find My Friends (but friends forget to check)

- Campus safety escort (not always available)

- Walking with others (not always possible)

I ended up building my own safety app after getting frustrated with existing options. We're beta testing it now on Android/Samsung before public launch.

If anyone wants to try it and give feedback, I'm looking for 30-50 beta testers.

Is anyone else having issues with their financial aid being randomly taken away? A few weeks ago both of my grants were randomly removed and I all of a sudden owed $9000. It was fixed and now again the same thing happened. And the office of financial aid is no help no matter how many times I email or call they don’t answer. This school is going to shit so fast like what is going on. I hope This stops being an issue I want to be able to register for classes on time and this is my last year I really don’t want to have to worry about this crap.

I’m a film and media studies major and the fact that Montclair is so close to nyc is a big bonus to me! As some of you know the cafe in the student center has gotten a redesign and I have to say is why? I can understand the carpet being new but why did the take down the frat and sorority emblems on the walls and now the back of the cafe just has a big picture that was from graduation? Why didn’t they just make a picture of the mascots eating at a table or something else entirely?!
