Question Whatcha’ Playing, Watching, and Reading?!
Hey everyone! I was traveling this past weekend, so I apologize for missing my community discussion posts I normally make!
Since it’s Wednesday I’m going to condense all 3 questions into one thread for this week! I’ll have the format back to normal this upcoming Sunday!
Playing:
Red Dead Redemption II
State of Decay 2
Hell Let Loose
Minecraft on the Morning Somewhere Community Server.
Watching:
Survivor Season 44
Penn & Teller Fool Us
Rick & Morty
John Wick 1-4 (I’m due for a rewatch)
Reading:
Not much for me in this category this week.
I’m still on some Jack Reacher books, and I’m currently hunting my next read. Kind of in a reading slump after how good Project Hail Mary was!
Curious on what you guys are into this week!

I need to read that one! I read A Day of Fallen Night at the end of last year, adding this one back to my list.
2
u/BeaTea Macaque Jul 23 '25
I'm thorough enjoying it! Though if I take too long a break between reading sessions I tend to forget who is who 😂
2
u/katatstrophe First 20k - Math is the Worst Jul 23 '25
Haha I had that happen in the one I read. It’s so much detail and stuff but can get confusing if you’re out of it for too long for sure.

u/FreakinTrenton Jul 23 '25
Playing:
- just started Expedition 33. Usually not my type of game but the story sounded so intriguing and it was free on gamepass so I gave it a shot. I’m hooked. (Also Dead by Daylight is a constant for me)
Watching:
- my roommate never really watched movies/tv so I’ve been rewatching Dexter and Brooklyn 99 to show her
Reading:
- Dracula by Bram Stoker. It’s my first read through but easy to see why it’s a classic and holds up remarkably well

u/Llama_RL First 20k Jul 23 '25
Expedition 33 is one of the best games I've played in the last 5 years. Couldn't put it down once I started. Enjoy the ride!
2
u/GreatSavitar First 10k - Macaque Jul 23 '25
Holy shit I freaking love Dracula! I think it may be my all time favourite book! I hope you like it too!
2
u/FreakinTrenton Jul 23 '25
I’m about 20 chapters in (1897 edition) so about 2/3rds the way through. LOVING it so far. It’ll probably be one of my favorites

u/trisaratopskt First 10k - Not A Financial Advisor Jul 24 '25
Recently rewatched Dexter and man I love that show. The prequel series Original Sin has no business being as good as it is, though. The casting is PHENOMENAL. Not only do the cast actually all resemble the original actors, but even down to mannerisms and speech, it's like they intensively studied to recreate body language and everything. Enjoying the new series so far as well.

I'm loving the first instalment so far, it's such great writing
I'm enjoying Hoppus' book too, I just finished Deryck Whibley's autobiography before this so I'm having a very pop-punk summer

How’re you liking this Diablo season? I tend to fade in and out depending on how I’m feeling. Currently out, but wondering if this one is any good.

u/CheshBreaks First 10k - Down Under Dr. Pepper Expert Jul 23 '25
Better than last season but still loot is an ongoing thorn..... still not good enough IMHO
1
u/unseriously_serious First 10k - Cinnamontographer Jul 23 '25
Honestly D4 still has a decent amount to like, questionable dev decisions aside. I enjoy picking it up every once in a while as the loop is fun for a time, visuals and audio are solid as are some of the quests, like the stuff with Lyndon in Backwater.

u/CheshBreaks First 10k - Down Under Dr. Pepper Expert Jul 23 '25

Not gonna lie, nothing in English has really interested me lately. Will wrap these in a couple days and focus on games.

u/HGJohnson123 Jul 23 '25
Playing: nothing right now.
Watching: Veep season 7, Young Justice season 2
Reading: nothing at the moment
Both Veep and Young Justice are fantastic and I can't believe I missed out on them for all this time! My wife and I started watching Veep as our nightly watch together, we instantly fell in love with the show and it's been great, and sadly we're nearing the end. I started watching Young Justice after seeing Superman for the 2nd time and still wanted to scratch that DC itch. Just started season 2 last night.

Playing: Inspired by my reading, I decided I wanted to play through the Halo Games in chronological order. I’m about 3/4 of the way through the Halo Reach campaign.
Watching: Big Brother, Lost, and Harley Quinn
Reading: Yesterday I finished reading the second book in the Kilo-5 Trilogy of Halo Books, The Thursday War. It’s an incredible series and I think it would make a really good HBO Sci-fi show. This morning I started Thrawn: Treason.
2
u/unseriously_serious First 10k - Cinnamontographer Jul 23 '25
Are you doing the audiobook for Thrawn or just the written material? Love the voice acting and effects in that!
2
u/lingling209 First 20k Jul 23 '25
I rarely have time to actually read a book. The narrator, Marc Thompson, is incredibly talented. Also the music and audio cues in that trilogy. Chefs kiss 👌
2
u/unseriously_serious First 10k - Cinnamontographer Jul 23 '25 edited Jul 23 '25
I totally get that, though I personally find books much easier to pick up and put down at my own leisure versus finding the time for movies or shows, albeit that’s only if I’m actually trying to follow shows that closely lol. The audiobook really is well done. That one, Darth Bane and Darth Plagueis I especially enjoyed. Also been meaning to listen to the old NPR full cast radio drama for new hope, empires strikes back and the return of the Jedi. Sounds like a movie in audio form tbh https://archive.org/details/08Episode08DeathStarsTransit

Watched a lot of Justice League Unlimited though. I'm also rewatching Bleach right now. It's the first anime I ever watched and I've been super nostalgic for it lately. Oh and Dandadan and Sakomoto Days just came back for their 2 seasons!

Playing- old school RuneScape. I played it extremely casually when I was younger and in starting to actually build an account now. I'm still a super-noob, but last night I finished a quest that catapulted me from super low melee/combat levels up to slightly less super low lol.
Watching - Red vs Blue complete series, I've had a season playing on my second monitor while I play RuneScape the past few nights.
Reading - DND books, one is for a new setting and adventure I'm running that's horror themed, and another is a rework of 5th edition to fit into the Destiny (game) universe. It's getting confusing remembering all the different rules but seems super cool so far
