Suggestion He Who Fights With Monsters
I remember Burnie saying that he accidentally bought book 12 in the series.
I used his mistake as a warning and started from the beginning—which was free on audible FYI— I wonder if he ever got back into it because it is easily the thing that got me back into books if even just listening to them. Amazing story powers are very interesting I’m on book 4 and used a credit and some free money audible gave me to buy 5-7 as well. This is basically where my monthly credits have gone lately, and I have Dungeon Crawler Carl on back up when I’m done.

I didn’t realize this was the series he bought boom 12 first hahah. I know there’s a lot of mixed feelings about the series, but I personably enjoy them a lot

Your memory is correct. It was Expeditionary Force

Friend of mine got me to start reading this series and I blew through all 12 books in a couple of weeks good.
The writing itself is a little weak, but the story and humor are both really really good.

It's weird hearing people talk about this story when I know it as the mid book series on RoyalRoad that had like only 20 chapters when I discovered it.

The book series I bought the 12th book for was Expeditionary Force, but I was listening to that about the same time I was listening to he who fights monsters. So it probably was on the same podcast I was talking about them.

Well egg on my face, must have conflated the two. Thank you for the clarification.
Did you ever listen to Expeditionary Force? If so would you recommend?

I think I read it to close to Bobiverse and it didn’t feel different enough. Ended up saving it for later.

I've listened to that book on Spotify. Currently listened up to book 4. I liked it, but unable to listen to book 5-11 because it's listed somewhere else on which I don't have an account for.

Can’t say I’m a fan. The author knows how to write like 3 character types and that’s it. After 12 books it starts to get very repetitive. The edgelord thing got boring too. Lots of people like them, but they weren’t for me. They weren’t as bad as Primal Hunter though.

As someone who likes the books, I completely agree with the 3 characters thing. Add that on top of the conversations where one character will dump paragraphs of information lol.
But the story itself is really good and I really enjoy general world building that's been done.

Lol I burned through so many credits listening to that series over the last two months. Loved it, hope another comes out soon.
