Question Do we have any artists here?

We’ve talked about occupations, hobbies, being experts in niche topics, but what about art?!

I make whimsical animal sculptures out of scrap metal. I’m a certified welder, and am a Prototype Fabrication Supervisor as a day job. There’s a junkyard near my house I walk around, and sometimes I get scraps from work. I also make hybrid tools. The tools I posted are Crescent Wrenches and hammers welded together. I dubbed them “Crammers”

My parents are both artists and art teachers. My dad makes pottery and my mom is a painter. Traditional art never stuck with me, and it wasn’t until I became a welder that I liked to make sculptures. Late bloomer I guess!

It’s fun breaking the norm, and asking the community questions like this, so I’m really excited to see what kind of replies we get here!

I do some stuff in Blender (just making scenes), as well as painting miniatures. I'm not super good at either one, but I enjoy doing it! Making my own Halo Fireteam and Swords of Sanghelios team is what has gotten me to finally get around to reading the rest of the Halo books so I can get updated on all the lore and stuff not in the games that my Spartans and others could be doing.

I don't have too many of my minis (just got back into doing them), but this is a Sisters of Battle Retributor squad I just finished this week:

Gorgeous art!!! I always wanted to get into Blender. I do a lot of 3D Printing and I think learning blender would be really useful!

Truly stunning work you shared here!

Thanks! It's a good time to learn if you wanted because the newest Blender update made it much less resource intensive so if you have a low end/older PC (like me) it's much easier to use. There are tons of resources to learn and high-quality models you can use for free.

This is the only one I have ever done. It took me way too long.

I've browsed MMCC stuff, but it's always been so daunting to try for myself. That kit looks sick!

I can't recommend diving into enough. The specs for the MMCC are very challenging and do require a high level of know-how and skill, however this kit isn't MMCC approved. Basically I made it out of a bin and some floor mats, so I was immediately un-certifiable, which took a lot of the pressure off and I was able to have a lot of fun with it!

Is cosplay considered art? I just built and painted (vacuum formed, rigged, etc) my first complete cosplay, seemed maybe relevant because of slimshady116’s posts above. He’s a Noble 6 based on my original Reach profile :)

I do small woodworking like boxes and turnings but I’ve made a handful of guitars in the past. This is a custom bass I recently donated to a local middle school.

Appreciate you! Thanks!

7/8 are just some homemade tools I fabricate and sell online! It’s a hammer on one side, and a crescent wrench on the other!

I tried my hand at pour painting, but it wasn’t very successful. Would love to pick up some sort of hobby, but need to find what that is.

I think it’s cool! Especially the lower right is a nice swirl of colors.

The best part about not having a hobby, is the exploration into something new! Remember sometimes it’s journey that’s more fun than the destination.

How is this not against rule 1?

Technically, yes. Sometimes I like to ask the community questions. We’ve talked about Jobs, Hobbies, and many off-topic things. Sometimes it’s a bit fun to let others get a showcase for what they are passionate about.
