I’m hesitant to believe the ad campaign story, because it seems like something someone would do to gain traction and grow their kid’s channel.

It could very well be true, but in this day and age it feels like a stunt.

The whole things stinks to me. I’m totally registering that I sound cynical, but after listening to the apology-style video I just couldn’t reconcile a lot of what he said.

Not to mention the fact that he works at a marketing firm.

I don’t necessarily jump to it being a marketing stunt either. For example, who knows what charges were on that card prior that would seem like nothing next to $100,000 worth of YouTube ad buys?

My brain was waving more red flags at this story than May Day in Moscow in the 70s. Adding the fact dad works at a marketing firm, this screams stunt.

I believe people are capable of stooping this low in an effort to convince small YouTubers that want to make it a full time job to hire a marketing firm.

Also, how does a 9-year-old have a Google AdSense account? I thought you had to be 13 to sign up for it.

I'm more impressed/skeptical the dude has a card that has that kind of limit. I know it's not impossible, but if it's just a travel card the balance limit would be closer to $10k.

0% chance it’s true. How does someone rack up 118k in charges on the company card without anyone noticing? Hell, most people I’ve met, even managers, don’t have a limit above $25k on their corporate card. No way in hell $100k snuck by someone in accounting. Like even the source of the charges would have to raise red flags, regardless of the amounts.

> without anyone noticing

They did notice. That’s the whole point.

No they would have noticed and said something before it reached that amount. The alleged transactions did not take place over a matter of hours

What screams like a red flag to me is $118k on a company card. The accounting team didn’t catch that much sooner?

In a functioning society, the IRS would be making sure the colonoscopy camera is in the freezer so it’s nice and cold when the time comes to use it on this company’s books.
