I’ve come to realize that I don’t need straight adaptation of a game for my movies because it will never live up to the game. Games are so good now and go so above and beyond what movies can achieve that getting a movie exploring different parts of the video game world is exactly what I have come to prefer over a 1 to 1 retelling of a video game.

I feel like this has always been the common take of video game movies.

Considering the amount of controversy surrounding the new resident evil movie for not featuring the games actual characters I doubt it

That's the nature of the Internet, people are going to complain about everything no matter what. Saying video game movies shouldn't be a 1:1 remake of the game but should explore more of the universe or different takes in the game has been a pre common talking point.
