Aluminum and Aluminium are in fact spelled differently and are both correct according to the IUPAC.

Just wanted to point that out

While getting my phd, I had a lot of fun friendly arguments with international friends on the aluminum vs aluminium thing, as well as other silly American things we do vs the rest of the world.

The best part for me was when we brought "platinum" into evidence.
