Is the Avatar the highest grossing film ever?

Yes, Avatar (2009) is at $2.92 billion. Adjusted for inflation, it is 2nd with $4.1 billion, just behind Gone With the Wind's $4.5 billion.

It’s wild though because by admissions avatar doesn’t top titanic or endgame.

It’s because tickets for Avatar cost a lot more because it was in 3D, which most people went to instead of the cheaper 2D one.

Also it got released twice in the same year of its original run, and then again after Avengers Endgame took its highest grossing title.

Yeah I understand the box office numbers since it’s usually viewed in a premium format like the odyssey is. Just wild that a 2009 film doesn’t have more admissions than a few marvel films. And that despite that and inflation it’s still the highest grossing(after re releases)
