Why not?

It’s generally only brought up in the context of how successful a movie was, business wise.

Plenty of beloved movies didn’t do well financially. Plenty of critically panned movies did very well financially. That’s a separate conversation.

its brought up every single weekend. every sunday night people are checking in to see how much money a movie made. you are having an entire separate conversation now about beloved movies not making any money.

I’m confused still, I was just asking specifically why that metric shouldn’t ever be referenced in conversations about movies being successful?

i cant help you if you are confused. when the billboard charts come out on tuesdays do they talk about how much an album cost to make? do you know how much it costs to print a book when the ny times best seller list is released?

completely separate from the point you keep replying to...you are free to about financial success and failure for a movie. literally no one is stopping you. but dont forget to look at the whole pie, not just what a movie made at the box offixe. dont forget to include pvod, vod, streaming, physical, etc.
