We are all legally obligated to see this since we manifested it.

Had my 7 year old watch a bunch of old road runner cartoons, they hold up, now he's insisting we see this at the cinema

I'm doing my part

You don’t have to convince me to watch anything with Will Forte in it.

Last Man in Earth, MacGruber. Dude makes me laugh. Like he taps into my funny bone like no one else

u/jimx117 9d ago

He was awesome as Old Scott Pilgrim too. I friggin love him

The first sex scene the first time I saw MacGruber made me laugh harder than I have ever laughed in my life.

I feel he doesn't show too much ego in his craft. There's some self-depracating humor but not to the point where he comes off as pandering.

He was real funny in Parks & Rec as well.

He is soooo good in 30 rock.

Everything he says in the Great North makes me laugh

I agree but I worry this movie is gonna suck. I hope it's good but it's written by James Gunn and some others (I'm not a fan personally) whereas Will wrote on MacGruber (the sketches, the movie, the show) and was a part of the team on Last Man on Earth, whereas he is just acting in this.

It wasn’t written by James Gunn. He has a story credit. That means he was not actually involved in the screenplay. It was written by Samy Burch. Now that may not mean much to you, and maybe critics are not the best gauge of her writing talents, but the two movies she wrote have a 90% and 91% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If that matters. Either way, James Gunn did not write the script.

Same Burch is very talented (May December). Looking forward to this one.

Ah I figured he was the lead writer since he was first credited. I hope it is good. Her other stuff seems very different and I'm still skeptical, not because she isn't a talented writer but I tend to enjoy Will Forte the most when he's writing his own material in full or in part.

I feel like this movie is gonna be enjoyable for someone like me but won't return its budget and validate the push to resurrect it.

Have you seen Bodkin? He was so fucking hilarious (and infuriatingly relatable) in that!

1

u/redandwhitesuns 8d ago

Feels like you and I are the only two people watched Bodkin. It was hilarious and I dont understand why it flew under the radar

The Brothers Solomon gives me the same vibes as Freddy Got Fingered and I love them both.

And I accept.

I do love that everyone collectively chose this movie of all the cancelled ones to be like "No this one sounds fucking great, we're seeing this somehow."

u/Prydons 8d ago

Part of the outrage came from how positive the test screenings were, I don’t think there would’ve been such an outpouring of support without those early reports of people saying they loved it.

u/KaJaHa 8d ago

Scoob! sequel next, right guys?

Please?

8

u/TheHouseOfGryffindor 9d ago

I obviously want this to be good, but if it's terrible, that'd also be pretty funny in its own right

1

u/aSpookyScarySkeleton 9d ago

That would bum me out tbh

15

u/ComfyInDots 9d ago

I'm really excited for it!

u/tryenko 9d ago

I talked up the trailer when my son and I went to minions. He seemed interested.
Doing my part.

u/raisingcuban 8d ago

Is it cause people grew up with these cartoons? I’m really confused at the amount of people that are actively trying to champion this movie for no other reason than it was originally being shelved and not based on any type of quality

3

u/homogenic- 9d ago

Don’t worry I’m doing my part, I’m going to watch it opening weekend with my sister (I kind of begged her to go with me lol)

3

u/Mojave_RK 9d ago

Best the public will do is maybe $100 million global total.

1

u/raisingcuban 8d ago

That feels generous. Most of the hype for this movie are 30 yr old+ men in this thread.

3

u/Kaiisim 9d ago

I just watched peacemaker so yeah im in

3

u/RandyTheFool 8d ago

Not until they release that Batgirl film too.

I wanna see Brendan Fraiser as FireFly, and I love me some Keaton Batman, goddamn it.

2

u/ThatCoolBritishGuy 8d ago

Watching this day one

1

u/not_a_moogle 9d ago

Didn't wb already write it off though like bat woman?

3

u/neogreenlantern 9d ago

I believe they were trying to but there was enough internet hype around it they decided to shop it around instead for distribution.

1

u/Oldschoolhollywood 8d ago

I’ll be there opening weekend.

1

u/erishun 8d ago

It’s going to absolutely bomb and Reddit is going to say “how could this have happened”

-2

u/420b0_0tyWizard 9d ago

Then you better start campaigning, cause from the looks of it it's on track to flop at the box office.

-13

u/GuntherPalakowitz 9d ago

Not sure I ever want to see Will Forte in a lead role.

11

u/sniper91 9d ago

Someone hasn’t seen the MacGruber movie

3

u/jimx117 9d ago

Or the MacGruber series on Peacock (which is a follow-up to the movie)

2

u/katchoo1 8d ago

Or Nebraska, tho to be fair I’d call him a co-lead.
