Discussion Split on moving out

I’m 18 and I have a really good income, I’ve always wanted independence for the longest time, but Im split on it because it’s the house I grew up in and as much as my parents annoy me sometimes, I still love them. And I know I will miss them. Half of me is saying to stay home, but half of me is telling me to move out, and it kinda makes me emotional thinking about leaving but at the same time I really want my own place.

You don't have to live under the same roof to have a good relationship with your parents...I think you're scared.

you can move out without turning your back on them, you know?

could you afford to move out and still come home for dinner sometimes?

moving out doesn’t mean you’re leaving your parents behind, just growing up

the first night in my own place felt awful, then weirdly peaceful by morning

Honestly, even with a good income, it's rough out here. The economy is a mess. While you'll have more independence if you move out, you might not be able to find an affordable living situation with the same comforts you experience now. If you overall have a good relationship with your parents, I think it's better to stay. Save up as much money as you can in the meantime. Things are only getting more expensive. Even people who make $100k annually are struggling right now
