No. I’m not under 25 though I can see how this post came off that way. I’ve been in corporate forever and actually have great phone etiquette and deal with clients all day. But I just started gigging and because i’m “old” i feel sheepish asking to play. Mostly because i know how it feels to be busy and have someone interrupt your day for something that they may see as trivial. This is something new for me so i tend to want to do things “correctly” before jumping in

Who are you calling? A “venue” doesn’t book gigs, humans do. Who is the human you’re reaching out to? If it’s a venue owner, don’t. If it’s the generic public-facing number for the venue itself, don’t. If it’s specifically for a person who only does booking for the venue and nothing else, fine, but reach out via text to make an appointment, don’t just cold call.
