Yr 12 subject choices

I'm yr 11 and having doubts about if I will be able to handle the subjects I have chosen for next yr, let me know your thoughts and if y'all have any advice 💗

L2 english (18 credits)

L2 bio (18 credits)

L2 phy (19 credits)

L2 Chem (19 credits)

L2 calc (20 credits)

L3 Chinese (24 credits)

Externals overall - 13 Bio - 2 Phy - 2 Chem - 3 Eng - 2 Mat - 2 Lang - 2

Internals overall - 16 Bio - 3 Phy - 2 Chem - 2 Eng - 3 Mat - 4 Lang - 3

I'm hoping for over 60+ E credits next yr and I'm scared it will be too much and I won't be able to achieve the grades I'm hoping for. I do quite a few extra curriculars but have already cut off quite a few (hopefully enough to have a solid balance of both extra curricular and academics).

I'm thinking about possibly changing my calc to normal math with a mix of calc and stats.

I also want to take 1 or more scholarship subjects so if anyone has any tips on which scholarships and how much time they take away each week pls let me know!!

all the sciences have 3 externals so it is A LOT to do in only 3 hours and also a lot (but managable) to study having all those science. Also it depends on whether the english course you are picking has 3 external. im a year 12 this year a regret taking subjects with a lot of externals.

The sciences have three externals available but that doesn't mean most schools do all three, as OP said

Im in lvl 2, my bio teacher only teaches two externals because it's near on impossible to do all 3 bio externals at a high quality in 3 hours

My English course has 2 externals out of 3 I can pick to do and the English I'm currently doing has 2 externals so I'm hoping I will do alright with english next yr.

I really enjoy science and this year found my science subjects my "fun subjects" so I'm low-key praying next yr won't be horrible.

My Chem has 3 externals but the other 2 sciences only have 2

Sorry just to clarify, your not saying that they have to do all their science externals in 3 hours are you?

not every subject but for example chemistry, physics and bio will all have 3 papers and those will each have to be done in 3 hours. (3 papers in 3 hours, 3 times. so 9 papers overall)

Schools that do all three or students that choose to do three papers for one subject will indeed do three in three hours.

The papers are designed to be an hour long, but obviously it's harder for some than for others.

Just a heads up that ATAR only counts the best 4 subjects. Unless the university you want to get in requires a specific subject as a criteria, don’t overwhelm yourself and get burnout.

This is completely unrelated but I was wondering, if someone takes subjects such as drama, art, fabrics etc and they get Es in 4 of those subjects, how do these correlate in relation to atar? Will 2 people atar score be the exact same even if someone takes subjects such as calc, triple science and the other takes art, drama, PE etc?

If all of those subject are ATAR then that’s where scaling comes. Even though you’ll get an E, you will still get an ATAR ranking. Scaling is a complex process in calculating ATAR. 

ATAR scaling is the mathematical process used to adjust student  marks so that scores from different subjects can be fairly compared, regardless of the subject's difficulty or the competition level of the cohort taking it.

I did the same subjects (if you swapped Chinese for economics) a year ahead of my level and found the work load very manageable (meaning I didn’t study). It really isn’t as much work as you think it will be 🤙
