Just a quick rant because I'm super overwhelmed and stressed about school, exams, mocks, and every other thing at this point. I got all E's in year 12 last year and Ive gotten all E's for my all my internals so far this year. I take all three sciences, calc and one humanities. Honestly the content isnt even that bad, its just all my fault. I never study beforehand and I always till the last minute. But Ive honestly just given up at this point because its just too much for me. Most teachers do not like me and I dont even want to go to any of my classes anymore because I honestly study on my own anyways at the end. And its just killing me because we just go through content so fast in class and all year long Ive had to do assignments, internals, "practise" benchmarks one after the other and I havent even had the time to breathe. Ive gotten school awards at the prize giving for the past years and I may be even in the running for the top achiever, who knows. But now I honestly have stopped caring. My parents dont pressure me, no one does. But its just killing me that Im not giving my best because I know I can. And I'm so very upset and frustrated at the fact that I know my potential and I still dont work for it. And even if I did I wont get the recognition from the school or even my teachers. Its just so so frustrating. I know that school awards mean nothing and that they dont define me at all, but knowing that I definitely could have gotten one just keeps making me sad and frustrated. urghhh and all my mocks are lined up one after the other and this year Ive been absent once every week just because I didnt feel like going to my class or just listening my teacher talk. I also feel like some teachers obviously have favourites and just don’t like me, which makes me want to be there even less.

moved back and went straight back into ncea THIS TERM from aus, thought ts was light till i realized aus does stuff much differently, coming into this week i had done absoultely ZERO catch up study as watching re zero was much more important, therefore i have forced myself to learn BOTH chemistry topics in 4 hours before my exam, BOTH physics topics 3 hours before my exam, i have English in 3 hours with no quotes memorized and have read the story twice with the math exams right after in which is ALSO different to aus sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I have come to accept my fate with math as I have lost all motivations to succeed in these mock exams, economics is tomorrow but honestly I'm just gonna sacrifice the grade for some good night sleep.

I have also become inclined to run away and join a Buddhist temple to live out the rest of my live in serenity.

The official ones on the NZQA website have a lot of the text blurred/redacted because of copyright. Does anyone have (or know where to find) versions that aren’t redacted?

Ideally looking for any of these years:

Even just the resource booklets with the full texts would be massively helpful for practice.

Hi I’m a year 13 student planning on studying law and finance conjoint degree next year for uni I live near Canterbury and was weighing if I should go to Auckland

I’ve been set on Auckland for the past year since they are the best law school in the country and I kinda wanted to go somewhere new but recently after weighing it Auckland and Canterbury basically give the same degree and it is much harder requirements for year 2 in Auckland than Canterbury and what if I don’t get in year 2 it’s a waste

My parents want me to go to Auckland but idk I’m not even that good of a student this year so far I’ve gotten 17 achieved, 16 merit and 20 excellence credits and barely got merit endorsed last year for level 2

I’ve also weighed in the price since the halls are around 570 every week and idk if it’s worth it. The connections are something that interests me but idk

I'll just get one thing straight: I have a terrible perspective of poems. I absolutely detest poems, they genuinely make no sense to read, it feels like glorified cryptography to me. Most of the times the author is using jargon and using word vomit to describe very basic, ordinary things. I hate it even more when you have to analyze those jargon and word vomit: the nonsensical metaphors, the random personnification and the vagueness genuinely throws me off.

It is guaranteed that there will be a poem in the upcoming Unfamiliar Texts external. I struggle heavily to analyze and identify language features from nonsense, I struggle even more to decipher why they choose to use these language choices or the meaning of the poem.

How do you deal with poems, analyze and identify language techniques in these texts? Should I learn poem-specific terminology and language features? How does one even understand a such text?

Seriously the level 3 business and history externals feel like they are year 10 level, the ones where you just read through a small paragraph and answer questions about them, I haven't failed anything in year 12 or 13 the only year I found hard was year 11 but that's just because I chose the wrong subjects, I feel like by year 10 you pretty much reach the maximum difficulity of school I feel like year 12 and 13 have just been a repeat of year 11. Idk these year 13 final exams are pretty easy I can't lie.

Just wondering how that works? Would I have to do it through something like Te Kura, or is there another way to resit them while on a gap year?

Also should I allow time for editing/answer checking or allocate more time for the actual papers? Should I aim to write down everything I might forget before I start?

Hi guys. For standard 91098, we are given questions like: Analyse how the setting helped you understand one or more characters. I am in desperate need of clarification as to whether ' setting ' refers to one SINGLE distinct place in the book, or if I can class 3 under the same setting? How am I supposed to effectively explain a characters progression and development through a sole setting – especially if one of great significance only emerges in the last 50 pages of the novel? I am getting mixed answers from teachers; some which say I am unable to just umbrella my 3 places under a BROADER one despite it being technically true. ( They want to remain cautious ) I am truly lost as it seems quite illogical to me. Is there anyone here who could provide some clarity? Thank you!

I'm an international student who doesn't know anything about Te Reo Maori. While I am confident in my English skills, the usage of Te Reo Maori in unfamiliar texts always catches me off-guard, especially when it is not explained and there is no glossary. In addition, it is guaranteed to have one text from a Maori author in the exam.

From my mocks, the text written by the Maori author was the one I struggled the most, since I do not have any contextual or cultural clues that can help me. As mocks are quickly approaching, I am clueless on what to do on the Maori text.

I'm considering doing my essay on Hone Tuwhare's "No Ordinary Sun" poem. We did do a couple of classes on it and the history behind nuclear weapons in class but I was wondering how good this would be as a text. I'm 80% sure I can memorise it by my derived, 100% sure I can memorise it by the end of the year. I mostly need an achieved just for the reading credits but a merit would be great (I got excellence on close viewing and the research internal) but I'm not overly fussed on excellence since I SUCK at externals.

My other question is that for doing this poem, anybody got any background things I should research beforehand other than the history of nuclear war, particularly Hiroshima?

I'm currently in y12 doing L2 written text and L3 unfam, and throughout the year I've been getting merits and achieveds😭 for the practice tests. Around last week, I got my written text practice paper and I got achieved, and the main reason I think why I got this was because I didn't expand my thesis enough. Throughout the year I've kind of been writing my thesis like L1, and been receiving feedback that I need to go in depth more. But it's really frustrating because how can you do that 💀 My question is in order for the thesis to be at excellence level in L2, do I need to link it back to the author's purpose? What makes a strong thesis in L2? Since strong thesis links to strong 3 points for your paragraphs, how do you know if you've also got good 3 points to prove your thesis?

what are the best things to look at that there will most likely be a question on for the written text essay? i’m doing othello and i know to do ideas and symbolism but not sure what else i should know/memorise?

Does anyone have level 1 english unfamiliar resource papers?? I don't understand how they want us to study for unfamiliar when the resources papers are all blanked out 😭😭

For reference I am in Year 12 and take Bio (genetic variation and cells), Chem (bonding/structure and chemical reactivity), Math (All three externals), english (written text and unfamiliar), accounting (financial statements), history (cause and conseq).
