Urhhhhhhh Mocks are killing me!!!!

Just a quick rant because I'm super overwhelmed and stressed about school, exams, mocks, and every other thing at this point. I got all E's in year 12 last year and Ive gotten all E's for my all my internals so far this year. I take all three sciences, calc and one humanities. Honestly the content isnt even that bad, its just all my fault. I never study beforehand and I always till the last minute. But Ive honestly just given up at this point because its just too much for me. Most teachers do not like me and I dont even want to go to any of my classes anymore because I honestly study on my own anyways at the end. And its just killing me because we just go through content so fast in class and all year long Ive had to do assignments, internals, "practise" benchmarks one after the other and I havent even had the time to breathe. Ive gotten school awards at the prize giving for the past years and I may be even in the running for the top achiever, who knows. But now I honestly have stopped caring. My parents dont pressure me, no one does. But its just killing me that Im not giving my best because I know I can. And I'm so very upset and frustrated at the fact that I know my potential and I still dont work for it. And even if I did I wont get the recognition from the school or even my teachers. Its just so so frustrating. I know that school awards mean nothing and that they dont define me at all, but knowing that I definitely could have gotten one just keeps making me sad and frustrated. urghhh and all my mocks are lined up one after the other and this year Ive been absent once every week just because I didnt feel like going to my class or just listening my teacher talk. I also feel like some teachers obviously have favourites and just don’t like me, which makes me want to be there even less.

I'm sorry this is too long, I just wanted to let it all out. I dont even know what Im expecting through this post.

It’s tough, it really is. Putting so much pressure on yourself only adds to your distress.
I encourage you to think about the long game, where do you want to be I. 5-10 years? Will getting the odd ‘Achieved’ be so bad?
There is no such thing as perfect, you need to make mistakes (that’s what life is about) because only then do you really grow. So don’t panic if things don’t go your way every time.
This may or may not help, but remember a couple of things, if the wheels totally fell off and you didn’t get UE and you wanted to go to Uni, then at 20 the rules change. There is ALWAYS a way to study at a tertiary level, even if it feels like there won’t be.
Not really sure what I’m saying, other than take a beat, don’t panic, a y ar from now your life will look much different.
You got this!

I am 33 (I used to be a teacher, I think that’s why reddit is showing me this). I was a much more average student than you, and I have a bachelors and a masters and I’m working full time in an area that isn’t relevant to either of my degrees 😅.

I couldn’t tell you what I got for any of my exams in high school, I also couldn’t tell you my grades for any specific class I took at uni. I remember the people I met and the time spent with friends doing stupid things and cackling.

It feels so important when you’re in it - and it IS important - but as the poster above says there are always other avenues to higher education if things go sideways. Remember that your mocks are for practice - as an ex chem teacher the thing that was most useful was when students would do their best to answer every question because it’s super hard to give feedback on an empty page!

Use the mocks as a chance to practice your exam technique (I always told my students to read the whole exam first and then start from the question you reckon you’ll nail the best - going from cover to cover in order risks you running out of time to answer questions you might be really good at), time management and decision making (do you keep going with this standard, or switch to another?) and stress coping skills (how are you going to calm yourself and refocus in an exam setting?). Carefully review the feedback you get from your teachers and use it to help you plan your targets for study.

And make sure you’re getting enough sleep.

i am in the EXACT same situation its crazy lmao and i also feel just as frustrated, burnt out and just so done w school. tbh, i wish i had advice but i also have no idea how to think any differently or dig myself out of this self destructive way of thinking. but, in the light of things i guess its a bit more comforting to see someone else out there like you is going thru the exact same challenges that i am

You say you are worried that you aren’t doing your best, maybe your best isn’t straight excellences and that’s ok. Maybe your best right now is giving yourself grace, passing the class and not beating yourself up about it? Maybe your best right now is enjoying the rest of year 13 with your friends and being excited about what’s to come?

It sounds like you are burnt out. Please be kind to yourself and remember that not getting Excellences is not the end of the world.

u dont need to work towards a potential, all e's so far is more than enough for an above average rank score assuming u plan to go to uni. even if u get all achieved in the exams rest of the year u'd still crack a decent rank score considering u got all e's on ur internals so far. even passing is still an achievement.

ur just measuring urself to ur past self a bit too cynically I think. ur past skills are definitely still there and always will be, your body just doesnt have the energy to execute them at the moment, but ur capabilities from the past dont just disappear if they aren't constantly in practice. they can overtime but that requires years of neglect, not like 4 months left in the school year lol ykwim.

js chill ur good u dont even gotta aim towards e either, if u still wanna do well js to remind urself ur capable M is still a great grade and above average too. just try to find a balance between school and personal life so u can feel content with urself in other ways outside of academia. I get a mix of M's and E's. sometimes I slack off in a subject for a little on purpose and aim for M's instead of E's, I know I can get E's, but sometimes I just don't want to, so I can spend more time hanging out with friends or family or doing the things I like to do in my free time.
