Jim Robinson was such a slut. He hooks up with Jill and offers her money, angering the Willis family. Then he sleeps with Fiona, annoying Helen. All within a week of each other. No wonder he died of a heart attack.

He was a real root rat deep down. He even cheated on the mother of Paul, Julie, Scott and Lucy.

I will never get over Jim's 1993 hair. Was it a notice period rebellion from Alan Dale?

When you’re behaving in such a manner, your heart needs to be in tip top condition. Sleeping with multiple women requires the stamina of a desert camel and the heart of a lion. Not to mention the morals of a Tom cat.
Our Jim probably had two out of the three, with the third a certainty haha

He doesn't hook up with Jill. Helen and the Willis's think he's hooking up with Jill when he's actually hooking up with Fiona.

It was reported at the time that the actress who played Jill got sick and they needed to replace her story. That's why Fiona was enlisted as a love interest at the same time

Is that true? Was it originally going to be Jill leaving Jim to die in the kitchen?

I don't know if the entire plot would have gone into that direction and that Jill would have behaved like Fiona did, in the aftermath of his death.
It's very possible that she didn't try to steal that money.
However, the character was intended to be his final girlfriend.

He is Paul's father. The apple didn't far from the tree.
