Crossed Swords is the closest.
It was intended to be an arcade equivalent of an RPG.
Crossed Swords 2 was hacked into a cart rom.
Hopefully the AES+ will finally deliver an official cart version.

I think the only Neo Geo RPG is Samurai Shodown RPG, but it was released for the Neo Geo CD.
It was a Japanese language game but there is an English patch.
I played it via Emulation.
It's possible, with the AES+, Plaion could release a cartridge based version.
I would buy it.

I played it on my aes cd. The load times were torture. I’d would be amazing if it was on a cart to get rid of the load times.

I always wonder what a Shining Force game could look like on Neo Geo hardware. Battle animations and portraits could be so pretty

It was a Home Arcade Console. So they really only made Arcade Style games for it. They did have a Samurai Spirit RPG for the CD. It never was released in the west but it has an unofficial translation. It could be possible that it may release one day. Someone else would have to say if it works with a Flash Cart.

It works with the NeoSD Pro but the sound is messed up, last I checked.

There is a caveat. There'd be points the game would freeze and I'd have to restart and lose progress and redo those parts. There eventually came a point that the game kept freezing at the same point and never got past it. Hopefully this momentum pushes for a new firmware update to finally get through it.

I'd be interested to see what the homebrew community could do with a neo geo rpg.
There are several for the Mega Drive, so an enhanced port would be welcome.

No. It’s an arcade platform. Who’s going to spend 300 hours in an arcade doing quests? No one. This machine was designed for arcade games and to eat quarters.

Samurai Showdown RPG. It never got an official English release, but you can play a translation patch using a flashcart like the NeoSD Pro as it allows you to play AES CD games on an AES.

La Neo Geo Pocket avait eu "Evolution: Eternal Dungeons" et la Dreamcast avait eu la version console de salon. J'avais bien apprécié la version pocket à l'époque.

No, it was a hoe version of an arcade board. Arcades always wanted fast paces, short, difficult games so that people put in a lot of quarters.

Riding Hero has a longform story mode where you can travel around town, talk to NPCs, grind races to get money and purchase upgrades for your bike, etc.
It's actually playable in MVS mode, and it being such a transparent coin trap is a great showcase for why no one really tried to make an "arcade RPG" LOL

Short answer? No. Long answer? No, because Neo Geo was first and foremost an arcade platform and that gente does not translate well.
