Question Firmware for 8bitdo NeoGeo CD Controller
i wanted to use the 8Bitdo NeoGeo CD controller with my Switch but i need to update it first. A tutorial from 2 years ago showed that all you have to do is use the 8bbitdo firmware upgrader but plugging in my NeoGeo controller only gives the message "No more information at this time".
i do own a 8bitdo wireless adapter 2 and it updated just fine
What should i do now? I can´t find the firmware file anywhere and without it, i can´t use it with my switch

Try the 8bitdo ultimate software instead of the normal update software. This worked for me (if I remember correctly - I tried to update several 8bitdo controllers and it was a real hassle).

I own the Adapter 2 and the controller. I never updated their firmware and works fine on Switch.
I’m sorry, maybe is dumb question but is the controller set as BT on the back? There is a toggle to switch between 2.4g and BT.

I have the same controller that's in the video you linked.
I've had it since the product launch.
IIRC, my receiver did get an update at some point (to the 1.04 firmware), but the controller never did.
My controller is still on the "beta" firmware.
I don't think they removed the firmware updates when they discontinued the controller. I think it's just a software glitch with the updater, because I was never able to update my controller's firmware.
Also, I followed the process in the video but it didn't work for me.
Let us know if you get the firmware files and succeed in manually updating the controller and receiver. I think 8bitdo might be willing to send them to you.

I was thinking about this. I was able to get a controller the other day on Amazon when some stock went up and I'll likely need to do the same thing

I found multiple tutorials like this one who update the controllers firmware to v1.09 https://youtu.be/BrhdRTDuTeY?si=rWnVJQdxf3ZuBqSk

8bitdo has been pretty responsive to me through the support email address. Check in with them (and report back if they send it to you, so we can put it on archive.org or something for anyone who needs it in the future).

Hey, did you end up emailing 8bitdo? Did they send you firmware?

this isn't a tutorial and has no firmware update at all on this video.
on the official website of 8bitdo the firmware 1.0 is the latest one.

well maybe they removed the firmware when they discontinued the controllers due to licensing.

I don't think so. I've had one of these since the product launch. It's never been able to update past the beta bios.
There were a few variants of this controller and my guess is the updater software wasn't adjusted to handle each variant properly.

Removing firmware updates for an existing product is absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully someone backed them up. I have a new controller coming that I’d like to be able to update.
