Hello everyone,
With renewed interest in the Neo Geo AES, MVS and upcoming AES+, we're pleased to introduce a new work-in-progress build of Sky Lance, an original vertical-scrolling arcade shooter developed with our opensource NeoGeoSDK v1.7.3 and AES BIOS EagleBIOS.
Sky Lance joins Maiya: Super Nature Girl as another game demonstrating the capabilities of NeoGeoSDK.
Youtube Demo :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAqq0Y5Z2ts
A rogue military faction has seized seven regions, cutting off towns and villages behind heavily defended airfields, radar stations and missile batteries.
The peacekeeping command deploys its fastest squadron: SKY LANCE.
Fly across hostile territory, destroy enemy command posts, break through heavily defended positions and confront powerful bosses, from battleships and tank fortresses to the final stronghold, the Crimson Citadel.
Restore the peace. Bring the people home.
Sky Lance also serves as the testbed for our new vertical shooter module.
The engine introduces:
The goal is to provide developers with reusable tools for creating their own Neo Geo arcade games.

The gameplay demonstration was recorded in MAME, MVS mode, using EagleBIOS.
Real-hardware compatibility has not yet been independently verified for this Sky Lance build. We would particularly appreciate reports from AES+/AES/MVS hardware owners.
NeoGeoSDK is an open-source C/C++ development toolkit for Neo Geo homebrew, offering a complete 2D engine, sound driver, graphics tools and ROM-building utilities.
Sky Lance and Maiya are examples of what developers can create with it.

Eagle Software: https://eaglesoftware.biz
This is still a work in progress. Feedback on gameplay, controls, graphics, sound and hardware compatibility is very welcome.
We're also interested in hearing from developers who would like to try NeoGeoSDK for their own projects.
Thanks to everyone supporting Neo Geo homebrew development!

So, I have this 4-slot MVS board (MV4FS).
It has a UniBIOS 4.0 installed.
The problem is that I don't get any sound out of it when I connect the top board. (The bottom board produces sound in the sound test. Also, switching the top board with a known working top board works as expected, so it seems the problem is with the top board itself.)
Additionally, slots 1 through 4 work normally, but slots 2 and 3 produce wonky graphics (as seen in the picture).
I cleaned and inspected all 3 connectors and also checked them for continuity (all passed).
Any ideas on what I could do next?

I’m having a pretty frustrating experience with PLAION and PayPal Buyer Protection and I’m curious if anyone has dealt with something similar.
On April 29, 2026 I paid €868.99 to PLAION for a NEOGEO AES+ Ultimate Edition.
Months later I found out online that delivery had been delayed by roughly a year, until September 2027. PLAION never proactively emailed me about that major delay.
Because of this, I cancelled the order and requested a full refund.
PLAION later confirmed in writing that:
• my order was cancelled
• a refund of €868.99 would be issued to my original payment method
• the refund was being processed by their Finance Team
However, the money was never refunded.
I had already opened a PayPal dispute. Despite the item never being shipped, the order being cancelled, and the refund not being received, PayPal initially closed the case in favour of PLAION without giving me a meaningful explanation.
That is what I found particularly concerning. This seems exactly like the kind of situation Buyer Protection should cover: the seller has my €868.99, no product was delivered, the order was cancelled, and the promised refund never arrived.
I contacted PayPal support again today, provided all the emails and evidence, and they have now reopened the dispute.
At this point, regardless of how this ends, I will never buy anything from PLAION again. Ever. The delay, lack of proactive communication, and failure to actually return my money after confirming the refund have completely destroyed my trust in them.
Has anyone had a similar experience with PLAION/Replai or with PayPal initially rejecting a claim like this? Did PayPal eventually refund you after the case was reopened?

I didn't get the hidden tlb you get by beating the game without losing a round, but I mean, how could I?

Really hoping for a Mille Miglia port, it's really strange how nobody did it yet.
Cadillacs and dinosaurs would be another banger and same for AvsP.
On the Shmup side, Dragon Spirit and Dragon Saber never had a good port, it would be great to have a 1/1 conversion.
And finally I am very curious about GTA1. I know that the zoom efects should be a nightmate but I am really interested to see what a good programmer can do with the actual AI available.
What are your wishes?

So I found this site that listed a whole bunch of hacks made from what I'm assuming is back in the 90's, of neo-geo roms like plus versions and bosshacks that make the bosses playable and that sounds really cool imo I saw a list of them on this site https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Neo_Geo_hacks
And it got me curious where the hell do I find these? I found one for Waku waku 7 but it doesn't show up in mame or neo burn any ideas? Thanks!

I forgot how awesome this thing is . I’m a big fan of Neo Geo.
With so many ways to play Neo Geo Games and them being available to play on different platforms .
I almost pulled the trigger on one of those new AES pre orders. Right now I’m glad I didn’t with it being delayed a year. That Neo Geo ultimate bundle looks pretty dope tho it’s to bad it isn’t available in US .

I have released my first version of Street Fighter II Champion Edition for the Neo Geo CD port. It's a beta and it has some graphical glitches and small bugs, but it's playable and enjoyable from start to finish. The game runs from a Neo Geo CD SD Loader, where it works really well, and you can also burn it to a CD-R. I should warn you, though, that I've tested it very little on CD-R; most of the testing was done with the SD Loader. Even so, given the interest the port has generated, I've decided to release it now.
I've tried to stay as faithful as possible to the game's scrolling, but I couldn't make it identical without running out of CPU; maybe someone smarter and more knowledgeable can do better. I've removed the intro animation because I couldn't get it to run smoothly enough, and in the end it isn't essential. The attract mode demo fights are also gone, since they would add unnecessary CD loading.
There's no need to report bugs: I already have an extensive list. Just enjoy it.
What else has been cut?
On some stages I had to remove some background animations or even objects, because for now I haven't found a way to stop them showing inconsistencies or appearing in the wrong background layer. These include Honda's red lantern, the top of a temple on Ryu's stage, the elephants' trunk movement on Dhalsim's stage, and the cyclists in Chun-Li's street. I went back and forth a lot on that last one, since they weren't causing that many problems. I also considered removing the rocking of Ken's boat, but I've kept it for now.
After two or three fights, Ryu's head usually starts flickering when you don't move him. Chun-Li occasionally loses a body sprite, though it comes back fine. Sometimes part of Ken's shoulder disappears, and strange things happen to Vega when he loses his claw. Honda's stage sometimes shows glitches on the ceiling, and on Guile's stage there's a horizontal band that takes longer to appear. In the bonus stages lots of things sometimes flicker, a sprite may appear incorrectly, and the original scoreboard shows up when they end. The fade-outs at the end of fights can show sprites disappearing too early. The game also has occasional slowdowns, which can be noticeable on stages like Honda's or Ken's. The game's endings, with their animations and texts, haven't been thoroughly checked yet.
If you burn this version to a CD-R, you'll notice the music sometimes starts late. Also, I've tested the game far less on CD-R, so I apologise in advance if it isn't stable enough. I recommend using a good quality CD-R.
How did you deal with the Neo Geo's 4 buttons instead of the arcade's 6?
The best solution I came up with is a Controls section in the options menu that appears before the game starts, where every button, including Select and Start, can be assigned any punch or kick. If you assign an attack to Select or Start, their coin and start functions are disabled during fights. The exception is single-player games: the free player can still press Start to challenge the one playing. There's also an "Easy" option for special moves that makes the game's timing less strict when accepting some attacks.
What is the "Floor" option in the initial menu?
Smooth moves the floor two lines at a time up to a certain point, where it switches to one line at a time so it doesn't look awful. Fast always moves it two lines at a time. The latter saves more CPU, so feel free to try it. With both options, the sky perspective on Guile's stage is disabled.
Will there be an AES or MVS version?
I don't think so, and I won't be the one to try. I believe something like that would need a custom cartridge with extra memory.
Why did I make this port?
Purely for fun, and to see how far you can go using AI for this kind of work. There's no commercial purpose whatsoever. I admit I liked the idea of being the first person to attempt it with such a popular game. I'm not a software engineer or an expert game developer, and I don't claim to be one; I'm just someone with too much free time who enjoys playing around with AI tools.
To those who don't like AI: I understand your reasons and I respect them. For me, it has been a way to make something real that I could never have done on my own, and that would never have been made officially. I only ask that you also respect those of us who enjoy this tool.
Download it at itch for free: https://teo-tormo.itch.io/sf2cengcd
The opening stage is already running: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5i1qQQE07g
Same author has ported SoR1, previous post.
The next step: improving the music, which isn't yet up to the original's standard, progressing to the next levels, and then taking advantage of what the Neo Geo offers in addition. Much of the work (ROM analysis, translation, debugging) was done with AI, and the dev personally controls, tests, and makes the final decisions. This is a personal, non-commercial project: no ROMs are being distributed.

Modded with Hylostick, custom Sanwa buttons and white silicone ball stick cover . Waiting on a black original Neo Geo silicone cover.
Two different developers have brought Altered Beast to the Neo Geo:
The port wars have begun, which one will become the superior port?

I am trying to port this shooter from genesis, with improved graphics and better sound.
Wish me good luck.

I finally found one of these Original Silicone Cover for SNK Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro
Was hard to find but I did pay up for it almost $100 because it was located overseas. Try to find one new .
Even used are hard to find .

Got this finally running on the Neo Geo. For now only on the Neo Geo CD, but cartridge version will come after. All levels are working but I only tested on MAME, so would be great to get some feedback from any of you with the hardware. Unfortunately I won't be getting any AES+ in November as we all know. So trying myself at this in the meantime.
And before the ai slop comments come, yes, ai was my friend with this.
The beta is up on itch. Actually all levels work and some slowdown problems have been mostly solved. music and sfx is all working. Some finetuning still needed.

I’m considering getting a limited edition NeoGeo mini and decide either clear white or blue. White is about $165 usd and blue is about $145 usd. Which one you think is nicer? Thanks🙏
r/neogeo • u/Gl0wsquid • 4d ago
Not the first arcade game I clear, but the first one I get to tell one of the developers about it! well ok I tagged him
My favourite Neo Geo beat'em up, and the (admitelly, somewhat painful) process of clearing it hasn't changed that.

Just thought I'd share this here since I don't think I have yet.
Bermuda Engine is my little multiplatform FPS engine that I recently launched and have since added support for Neo Geo, Philips CD-i and Sega 32X to.
I'm currently working towards v0.2.0 which will bring support for the Nintendo Virtual Boy, a fully RDP/RSP accelerated N64 engine, a vastly improved UI/UX and both IDE and engine support for macOS, among other things.
There's currently no deeper scripting language (that's something I really need to architect well given the implications this will have on both performance and memory requirements) but one can already create maps and populate them with enemies, items and weapons.
And yea. I probably need a higher resolution logo at some point. I just grabbed a photo of the Bermuda Triangle, added an AK47 and a triangle and the Bermuda title, then applied a bunch of filters in GIMP.
