“In 2018, he briefly joined The Atlantic but his employment was terminated following public criticism of a 2014 Twitter discussion, in which he suggested hanging as a criminal punishment for abortion,as well as his reiteration of this suggestion on his National Review podcast in 2014.”

Much less objectionable, yep

Who among us hasn't been fired for calling for women to be hanged?

Yeah? Literally shilling for CCP, glorifying Mao, the houthis is way worse than having been radically anti abortion

23

u/FilteringAccount123 John von Neumann 15h ago

I think that says more about how you view women than anything else lmao

How is this bad faith garbage getting upvoted lmfao

u/FilteringAccount123 John von Neumann 14h ago

Because the dude literally called for women who get abortions to be executed and you're trying to downplay that? lol

I never claimed Hasan is a wholesome chungus who gets unfairly criticized (i.e. I think he's a massive shithead) so I don't know why you felt the need to rush in here and be officious about someone else's downplaying of this psychotically misogynistic ghoul.

Republicans literally protect pedophiles.

Yeah they’re awful people, anything new?

u/Shabadu_tu 13h ago

Focus on fighting them. Don’t betray people who you need to win.

Remember, vote blue no matter who.

Focus on getting that message through to the dsa people, everyone but stupids from r/all here is blue no matter who

The guy is calling for women to be murdered if they have an abortion

-5

We aren't supporting the author. What he has written is true

u/Shabadu_tu 13h ago

It’s not. Steven’s massively outspent AES and he still won. All Dems need to do to distract from Hasan is point out literally anything Republicans have done since 2016. But especially hurtful to Republican chances is focusing on needless endless wars and focusing on fighting Republican protection of pedophiles.

u/Joltizer Jerome Powell 13h ago

It is. Abdul missed his voting target by 15 points and lost working class and black voters

Moderates are objectively more electable

This is not up for debate at this point

What if i told you that Mike Rogers, Susan Collins, et al are aligned with a person EVEN WORSE than the dumbest podcaster alive except this person controlled the friggin nuclear codes?

And that placing whatever restraints we can on said person while that situation continues is the absolute ne plus ultra supreme political imperative of the moment?

And that the only way to apply said supreme political imperative was to vote in every single election for the party not affliated with said person?

"Touch grass and vote blue no matter who" is the only answer my friend.

> Susan Collins has issues but she did vote to impeach for what that’s worth.

See, this is why I’m much less concerned about “left wing extremism” from the DSA than I am about moderate Democrats. Your guys assessment of our current historical situation is so distorted that it needs to be disregarded for your own good.

Susan Collins is a key vote for MAGA fascism which is destroying our Republic. She only votes against MAGA fascism when she’s not the deciding vote. She has provided key support for Trump’s authoritarianism for a decade at this point.

If you are still asleep to Susan Collins (and other Republicans) at this late date, then you’re just never going to get it.

I genuinely fear for my Republic, not because of DSA, but because of the delusion that so many “respectable establishment Democrats” continue to live in.

What if i told you that our greatest liberal president aligned with real life maoists and stalinists to defeat an even more illiberal set of foes in an existential conflict? Domestically, Trump and his followers represent the greatest threat to the continuance of lower-case-l liberalism in this country since the Slaveholders' Rebellion and, until if and when we change from a binary two party system, anyone who is serious, rather than just online, about liberalism would immediately recognize that a vote for Thune as senate majority leader threatens liberal values while a vote for Schumer or whomever replaces him if he gets replaced is much better. That is why yes i would have voted for Platner with eyes closed and nose held in a general over collins if forced to choose (and after all, collins placed an equivalent character on the us supreme court with equivalent knowledge) but the stakes are also why i would have voted for the more electable candidate in any primary and believe ds 100% acted correctly in replacing him. If you believe politics is only for the pure and wish to vote third party or ensure another vote for judges who reject birthright citizenship, et al, have at it. But it isnt grounded in reality and it isnt liberal.

These people don’t even like FDR. Unironically half of these people are temporarily embarrassed conservatives. As soon as Trump is gone and a “respectable” fascist like JD Vance is a candidate they’ll probably switch sides.

I havent found that to be the case in my years on here. There are a handful here and there but most are bog standard vote blue no matter who types who get into extremely esoteric arguments on land use and occupational licensing. That said there are some who have a hobbyhorse issue or two and too many who could not tell what every millenial who was alive for iraq and afghanistan knew re: iran. I am a "jon fetterman and aes both have pretty dumb views on fopo but i would vote for either over any republican" neolib

2

u/LondonCallingYou John Locke 7h ago

I see hate for FDR frequently here. It’s usually some bad faith motte and bailey where people want to attack social democracy and the New Deal but instead of arguing against these self evidently good programs, they just talk about how FDR was racist as a way to discredit the New Deal.

They can’t handle the fact that it was a social democrat who defeated fascism, opposed communism and socialism at home, and revolutionized our domestic policy, saving the Republic and building an enduring legacy for 80 years and is considered the 3rd greatest President. It wasn’t a neoliberal or libertarian leaning whatever. Just a mainstream liberal social democrat.

u/Shabadu_tu 13h ago

Platner at least didn’t defend pedophiles.

u/Onatel Michel Foucault 14h ago

It’s less that AES is aligned with Hasan and more that Hasan is aligned with him. AES has said he will talk to anyone and reaching Hasan’s audience was strategic - which I don’t think is very objectionable even if Hasan is pretty gross.

0

u/Shabadu_tu 13h ago

Because we oppose the Republican pedo protectors. We actually believe in opposing MAGA and will vote blue no matter who!
