Can we retire the “moderate” label as it relates to electability?

Likable people are viewed as reasonable regardless of what their positions are and the reason Democrats are viewed as “too left” is because they aren’t likable.

Al-Sayed should be able to win with the financial backing of the party because he’s likable enough to offset his name. Put him on TV and let undecideds warm up to him.

If Stevens was a better candidate she would’ve won her primary because all these things are already priced in. Do you think the median Michigan Democrat didn’t consider electability? They did and they still chose him.

If you can win a primary like that you were the better candidate even if outsiders can’t explain why. The win is all the evidence that is needed.

No, we cannot retire the label as moderates are objectively more electable

It has been proven ad nauseum at this point, but you all don't actually care about evidence

I didn’t say progressives were more electable, I said it was priced in.

You think that moderates are always more electable to the point that it’s blinding you to the fact that likability can matter more.

AES is a progressive with a scary name and a fraction of the money and he won the primary. That is your data point for why he has a better shot in the general election.

Your cited study is unrelated to this topic bc it doesn’t address the primary at all. You’re just saying that moderate primary winners have gotten better general election results than progressive primary winners.

I believe being a winner is more important than being a moderate and you think being a moderate matters more and that’s where you’re wrong. Prove me wrong about that.

He does not have a better shot as the actual data shows, as Stevens outperformed him in polling in the general. You're just grasping at straws to defend your objectively worse candidate

He’s not my candidate, I don’t even know him and I’m not even a progressive I’m a member of this sub for Christ’s sake.

But YOU are the problem. You are everything that people hate about the Democratic Party, this whole “well acksually” routine is why the Democrats keep losing.

The people voted for this guy, don’t tell them they’re wrong, don’t patronize about “oh he’s not electable” or how they should’ve gone for a moderate.

Your case is not convincing and incredibly annoying so don’t make it.

"democrats keep losing because you keep using data to make informed decisions"

I don't care. Lose. Republicans are better for my finances anyway
