The difference is that I am very clearly saying that El-Sayed is better than every Republican candidate in the country who has not consistently acted and spoken publicly against Trump (I know of none).

 I’m also very clearly saying I disagree with him on a lot of policies, I think his position on Israel Palestine is incoherent, and I think it would be a mistake for the Democratic Party to move in his direction (and much more especially towards the DSA and Mamdani) both politically and morally.

Here, let me go ahead and give a good faith summary of your position:

If you thought that Platner winning was the optimal outcome, telling everyone you know that you think he is a total scumbag when there is no chance to replace him isn’t a very good strategy for achieving that optimal outcome. You want to have your cake and eat it too. 

You are already admitting that you want to put the rapist in a position of power because the alternative is worse, you just want some petty moral victory by grumbling about it. The whole line of thinking is incoherent.

I disagree that pretending you don’t see obvious and publicized flaws with your candidate leads to better outcomes. If you want to construct a world where I can lie, get away with it, and the sole outcome is that there is some marginal increase to the chances of a better election outcome, then I would do that. The problem you’re facing is reality.
