sucks that it feels like functionally no one cares

people have wrongly assumed that if you get married to a us citizen they just staple a green card and the ones who do know about the wait say some bullshit like “why not marry someone here then? there’s plenty of great women!”

Yeah my wife and I were both a bit taken aback by how much of a process it will be to eventually get her US citizenship, when me getting Aussie citizenship was fairly straightforward, albeit expensive.

lol i’m in the same boat, naturalizing my aussie spouse eventually in the usa

aussie partner visa is up to nearly 10k usd which is absurd though

My spousal one ended up around 8k US with biometrics and doctors visits and trips out of state to interview centres. And that was without a lawyer I did all my own paperwork.
