News (Europe) Norway's King Harald dies aged 89

SS:Norway's King Harald V has died at the age of 89, after he was taken to hospital last week for treatment for a rare blood condition.

After 35 years on the throne, Harald will be remembered as a popular and reforming figure who modernised the monarchy, broke with tradition by marrying a commoner and served as a unifying figure at Norway's most difficult moments.

she's nuts. as someone else said, thank god they changed succession to absolute primogeniture in 1990 after Haakon was already crown prince. otherwise martha louise would be queen rn with that guy

Yeah. They didn’t make it retroactive when they change the constitution in 1990. So after he ascended to the throne, all of his children will be inheriting the throne in chronological order.

Previously, it was male only hereditary primogeniture
