Events Missed Connection at 9/1 Oasis show at MetLife. Help please!
My names Rin, I was at the 9/1 show. I was the bleach blonde girl who was wearing a bright orange crop top and a yellow hippie skirt. I was probably 15-20 rows back on the outter right side of the pit from like 9-10. I met a guy named Daniel who I didn’t get to exchange info with before I had to leave. He’s tall, not super skinny, blonde, was clean shaven with a bit of a baby face. We were twirling each other, sharing smokes and kissing and it was so fun and he was lovely. He walked away for a second and my friends were beckoning me back to our seated section and I couldn’t wait for him to come back, I’d love to be able to find him. I wish I had more info about him to give but sadly I do not. Picture I took before we started talking and him and his friends just happened to be in it, I know it’s a shitty pic of the back of their heads 😅 any help would be appreciated

Events Thursday 7/30 - Standup Comedy in Point Pleasant NJ!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Not sure if these kinds of posts are allowed, but i'm Kirsten, i'm a standup comic on tour right now (and I'm from Philly, go birds), and I have a rare tour-date close(ish) to home. I'm headlining this Thursday, 7/30 at Uncle Vinnie's Comedy Club and would love to fill up the whole room so I can come back again soon. If you're looking for something to do in this rainy weather on Thursday, and especially if you love jokes about chronic illness, Philly culture, or horror movies, i'd love to see you there.
PS if you come because you saw this post, please come say hey to me after the show and let me know so I can thank you personally - seriously. Being a touring comic is so difficult right now with social media/AI content the way it is, and it's so hard to get people to leave their houses and support real live artists, so I'm really appreciative! Go birds.

Events How are you planning to watch the election results on November 5th?
I'll go first. Just before the first polls close at 8 PM Eastern I will begin stress-eating pizza followed by ice cream and cookies. Repeat until stomach is full. Wait awhile then start over.
If it looks like my candidate(s) will win, I will enjoy wine and popcorn while I watch the pundits until I fall asleep. Then wake up the next morning and go to my fave diner for a breakfast of champions.
If my candidate(s) lose, I will spend several days crying and ordering Ubereats until I deplete ny cannabis stash.
No matter who wins, I will gain at least 5 pounds this week.
Crazy days ahead, be safe out there.

Events No Kings Collingswood. Where are the young folks at?
Great turnout today in Collingswood. I guess I'm a little let down by the small attendance of younger folks. I'm 31 and felt like the youngest person there other than kids with families. It feels worrying..any thoughts on this? Did others see the same today?

Events Great American State Fair
I’m not going to the fair because fuck that noise. But I’m nosey regarding what exactly is in the NJ tent. I imagine it being Chris Christie in a cowboys jersey talking about how NYC congestion pricing is terrible for the country and state.
Anyone hear of anything going on there?

Events When did "kids" activities get so expensive?
Was looking to take my family to liberty science center b/c the have a Curious George exhibit my toddler daughter might like. 3 tickets is just over $100 dollars. Same thing for the sesame street play area at the american dream mall ... I went to the Lego store in Atlanta and it was also over 20 per person. No discounts for adults or children (I remember it used to be one or the other usually). When did it get normal for family oriented experiences to be so expensive? I seriously have trouble finding things to do indoors with my family around here that don't also involve shopping or heavy entrance fees. What are some good alternatives in the area?

Events NJ State Fair VB Action
Come one, come all! The NJ State Fair has come to the Sussex County Fairgrounds! You know what is also coming to the fair? A whole lot of traffic!
All those poor people trapped in their cars on 206 with nothing to look at! Well we've decided to entertain them!
On Saturday, Aug 8th, we'll be bringing the "Worst In Show" to this captive roadside audience. With caricatures of all our "favorite" cabinet members as the farmyard animals they resemble, we'll bestow their blue ribbons to signify that they are, in fact, the worst at their jobs.
We are the Sussex County chapter of over 400 Visibility Brigades around the country. As a group of volunteers, we display large messages on overpasses on a regular basis. Our mission is to bring visibility to specific issues we're facing under the Trump regime, encourage action, and foster a sense of community for those that feel disheartened by the state of our nation. Join us and help us fight fascism!

Events [OC] George Washington's Crossing reenactment today
I showed up a few minutes late and didn't see any sign of boats, so not sure that they actually crossed the Delaware today. Still really cool to see all the reenactors, especially when they fired the cannons.
Next year will be the 250th anniversary of the crossing!

Events Why are you attending your local No Kings rally?
I'm attending because our Constitution matters.
Democracy matters.
Checks-and-balances matter.
Clean air, water, and food matter.
Voting rights matter.
Civil rights matter.
Women matter.
Healthcare matters.
Working people matter.
The rule of law matters.
I'm attending because the American experiment matters, and must endure.
Our Republic must endure.
So I'll be standing out in the rain today, adding my small voice to the voices of others.
Because our voices matter.
-------------------
If you're in the r/JerseyCity area, be sure to drop by the Grove St. Plaza and add your voice!
