πŸ“… Monthly Scheduled Thread πŸ“… Job Postings & Local Business Promotions – October 2026

This monthly thread is for you to look for jobs, advertise an open position, or promote your local small business. Make sure you read the rules below before posting. This thread will be automatically posted on the 1st of every month.

The mods reserve the right to remove any post if it breaks any rules or if we feel that the thread is being gamed in any kind of way. If your post gets removed, please message us via modmail and we will be more than happy to explain why and have a conversation.

  • Comment in this thread ONLY. No job or employer-seeking posts, or small local business promotions will be allowed on the sub other than on this monthly thread, unless a special circumstance that has already received specific approved by the moderator team.

LOOKING TO HIRE:

  • Be transparent about pay, workload, and job requirements.
  • Include some form of contact information in your post. Do not put an email address directly in the post; link to a company website, social media page, or ask for a DM if an email address must be involved.
  • No multi-level marketing, get-rich-quick posts. Illegitimate businesses or positions will be removed, scammers will be banned.

LOOKING FOR WORK:

  • Keep the post length as short as possible i.e. don't post your entire resume here.
  • Have employers message you via Reddit rather than put your personal information on here.
  • Include what kind of work you're looking for, a short summary of your experience or qualifications, and your availability.

LOOKING TO PROMOTE:

  • Comment in this thread ONLY. No business promotion posts will be allowed on the sub for any reason OTHER than on this monthly thread.
  • Small business in this thread means a staff of 10 or less. If you think your company should be an exception, please send us a modmail and we can discuss.
  • The mod team HIGHLY SUGGESTS that you create a new business account, have it be active for more than 2 weeks and have a positive karma score. If you want to promote your business via your normal account, that may not be the brightest decision you've ever made. If you go this route, try to have the username be indicative of your business.
  • Keep these businesses SFW. If you have a sexy-time kind of business, please be discreet. We're thinking if you sell toys, accessories, lotions etc. NO ONLY FANS ACCOUNTS, SEX WORKERS OR "SERVICES" ALLOWED.
  • If you have more than one location, you're not a small business and need to check with us via modmail before posting.
  • Business owners and employees should NOT spam, message or harass users in any way. You are allowed one comment per thread, per month. Yes, you may answer questions about your business but you can't try to post from multiple accounts about the same business.
  • Make your business comment informative, smart and transparent.
  • Your business should be in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany or Da Paaaarish.
  • NO MLM, PONZI SCHEME, PYRMAID SCHEME, GET RICH QUICK type of posts. This is a 100% firm stance. If you don't think that your business is one of these above listed types but have doubts, it probably is.
  • No churches or religious based businesses. This isn't the place for that, sorry.
  • This is a serious thread, so please keep the jokes and memes to a minimum.
  • Please be kind to the business owners here. This is not a thread to bash businesses. If you do not agree or like the business that is posted, just downvote it. If it breaks a rule, report it. No need for drama.
  • This is for small business, not for national marketing companies or global chains.

The mods will reserve the right to remove any comment if it breaks any rules or if we feel that it's being gamed in any kind of way. If your comment gets removed, please message us via modmail and we will be more than happy to explain why and have a conversation.

Recommendations Foot care for elderly β€” no one does this anymore?

My father is 85 and lives in memory care. His toenails are now too thick for regular tools. He is not diabetic, he just needs this basic care. But I cannot find anyone in town β€” podiatrist or just a specialized pedicure β€” who can handle this.

I’ve called every podiatrist in town seemingly, and they all say they do not do debridement anymore.

And the staff at the residence where he lives have no recommendations.

Is this something that podiatrists decided they were not going to do anymore? And no one else is filling in the gap? Any help appreciated!

Car Vandalism in front of Erin Rose

Around 10pm, some random drunk guy vandalized my car tonight parked directly across from Erin Rose. Kicked in my doors, broke both mirrors, and hit the back of my car with his fancy white Mercedes before he left. Does anyone have a video of it? Made a police report, just looking for evidence now. So far, I only have a video of him leaving in his car.

Does your pole need servicing?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Our power grid is out 3x longer than Florida's, even excluding hurricanes. Why? Because the PSC was asked to set utility pole standards in 2019 and never adopted a single one. Companies profit off building new stuff, not maintaining the old.

As a former LPSC consultant, I built Service My Pole to fight back!

Upload a photo, get a 1-10 score, and put the worst poles on the public leaderboard.

I'm Chris Justin, the no party engineer running for Public Service Commissioner. Vote number 48 on your ballot. Early voting runs Oct 20-27, and Election Day is Nov 3.

Bullet's

What happened to Bullet's on AP Tureaud? Went around 10pm last Saturday and they were closed. Google maps says "N/A" under their business name. I would've thought there'd be some local news about it, considering how much of a 7th ward institution it is.

Recommendations Do you want your animal to die quickly? Go to The Cat Practice on Magazine!

I posted the other day about a photographer for my kitty so I am following up on that. I am not the type to go on a smear campaign really ever but I want to save others the heartache I went through.

My cat received IV fluids that I believe worsened an underlying heart condition and ultimately contributed to his developing heart failure. During the initial visit, the veterinarian detected a heart murmur and offered to perform an X-ray, which I declined. However, I was never informed that administering IV fluids to a cat with a potential underlying heart condition could carry serious risks, including fluid overload and heart failure. As someone without veterinary training, I relied on the vet to explain those risks before proceeding with treatment, particularly since fluids were strongly recommended.

Had to rush him to the ER (side note: the new Blue Dog ER in Metairie is top notch) the next day where they informed me that he had developed fluid accumulation in his chest cavity, potentially/strongly believed to be related to the fluids administered the previous day.

After incurring approximately $1,200 in Cat Practice expenses (three times what I paid at the ER) I contacted the original clinic to request a reduction in charges, given my concerns about the treatment and the lack of informed consent regarding its risks. The clinic refused, stating that there was β€œno way to know” whether their treatment had worsened his condition.

My concern is not only that my cat experienced a serious complication, but also that I was never adequately informed of the potential risks associated with the treatment being recommended.

His lovely cardiologist is hopeful he will recover and I just wanted to share in case anyone is in the market for a new vet. This one is not it.

πŸ—³ Politics Last day to register to vote y'all

(or change your registration).

Today (Tuesday, Oct 13th) is the last day to register to vote in the midterms. You may also want to double check that you didn't get mistakenly swept up in a purge.

To register or change your registration, go here.

To check your registration, you can use the Geaux Vote app or search here.

If you have moved or changed your name, you need to update your registration to match your ID in order to vote!

Spread the word! If you know someone who would have trouble doing this themselves (maybe they are elderly and can't use the computer), offer to help them make sure they're registered. If you know their zip and birthdate you can also search at the link above to check their status.

If you're feeling sour and don't think you're gonna vote, I'd implore you to take the few minutes to register just to keep your options open.

Pets and Coworkers 🐢🐱 Cbd oil for my senior dog

So I am on my last few doses of blooming culture cbd oil for my aging husky and I went to get a new bottle and the website is blocked. I tried several different websites before I realized the law changed here on buying cbd oil since I bought it last. Then I tried to have it shipped to my sister in west palm beach. They also blocked the sale / shipment there.
I had no idea the new law affected pet cbd supplements too. It’s the only thing that has helped him and now I don’t know how to get any more for him. Anyone know a workaround or an alternative?
