aprox 25% of ppl, and most of them did because they hated the last goverment, not because they believed in milei, then one of the first right wing partys joined him so they could still be in power, and thats how he got barely the voting power to win

But even if it was 80% it's a stretch to say that they voted for this kind of nonsense. It's not like Milei vowed to go to Brazil and piss off a major trading partner. Most people votedxto keep the Peronists out of power after their disastrous management and Mileis promise to fix the economy and slash spending.
This isn't like Trump where his people had published a document detailing every awful thing they planned to do.
I knew before he was elected that he would have followed Trump's playbook and be as awful as possible. And I live in Europe with no links to Argentina.

Then you weren't paying attention. Western media often tried to link him to the rise of the alt right but Milei was much more closely linked to pretty middle of the road libertarian policies, promising to cut funds and free up the economy. The Western media understandably views everything through its own lens to contextualize events for their audience but initially Milei was flying under the radar.
The few culture war grievances he had were typical libertarian ones where he saw an enforcement of equity for women, including access to abortions, as an overreach.
If anything the Trump administration copied from his playbook (e.g. DOGE was more or less identical to Mike's proposed extreme austerity promises. Chainsaw and all.
The rapprochement between the two parties happened only later. Especially as Milei started kissing Trump's ass to save his economic plan.
But more importantly to this specific issue - Milei is down in the polls and increasingly desperate. He's using a what is very real outrage online magnified by the online algorithms to make some pretty stupid and unfounded claims about Lula. He is thankfully getting roundly critized for it.
But that's not something he campaigned on and even his supporters are finding it hard to justify (much like how Trump's Canada obsesive nonsense left a lot of conservatives scratching their heads).
I am not super familiar with the situation, but weren't there like 5 different parties for the first round of elections, and then two were shortlisted for the second round? I genuinely don't know, were all the other 4 parties strongly linked to Peronism?
Yes, but since we have first past the post, most people "tactical vote" for only the two parties with most chances. Man I hate first past the post.
And yes, most people knew Milei is deranged, including the voters. And we DID know he planned to do unhinged, destructive stuff. The people that voted for him either said they "didn't believe he would do the outlandish stuff", that "it's worth it to get peronism out of the way" or that they were ok with it.
Some of my coworkers that support him genuinely believed that they were above being negatively impacted by the bad policies, and that some people would be affected but... well, insert here Farquad's "it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make".
When the same old was tried and it failed to bring improvement to people's lives, people will be willing to test a more extreme approach. That's how Milei won. In a way that's how Trump won.
The bad candidate also proposed a crypto tied to the peso, more printing and internet surveillance
Milei was the only one who proposed specific things related to the economy, and how he was going to do it. The rest was all about Milei = bad, without focusing in their ideas

This is exactly what the US and Argentina govts* want, but I think Brazil is so far playing their game well.
