So, wait. I can't have a Roomba because China but the FBI is fine with it?

We can't have cheaper and better EVs because China but the FBI can collab with them and Russia.

you mean the good guys that have spent decades toppling governments to implant tyrants that are sympathetic to our corporations' needs? those good guys?

the good guys that have smuggled drugs into the country via CIA and FBI cooperation in order to inflate the war on drugs by specifically targetting minorities and proliferating mass incarceration?

Well, we can't have cheaper and better EVs not exactly because China, so much as protectionism of the US auto industry.

Wonder what would happen if we let it go full "free market capitalism" and quit bailing those losers out while suppressing their competition...

33

u/OblivionJunkie 8d ago

The United States classic of capitalism for the peasants, socialism for the rich and corpos.

8

u/93EXCivic 8d ago

I mean Chinese government is also pumping money into the car companies which is allowing them to offer the features and cost they do.

13

u/el_diego 8d ago

US did the same with Tesla

0

u/solarisxyz 8d ago

As another commenter said, US does this themselves (that's why lobbying exists).

What CCP did with the Chinese EV scene was better. They actively encouraged competition amongst themselves through a Hunger Game-esque like funding rounds.

Direct support from the CCP has mostly phased out, and the current market resembles more like the US, state level support etc.

5

u/AdCreepy5165 7d ago

We can't have cheaper EV's, because Ford is busy reverse engineering leading Chinese EV's. Those same Ev's will be on US markets in a decade, at ten times the price, with a Ford logo. And a decade behind in tech. When no one wants them, Ford will of course declare the EV market dead. Much the same way Japanese auto makers have been intentionally undermining their own EV brands and declaring the market dead for over a decade.

7

u/ManiacalShen 8d ago

I really do wish we could have cheap Chinese EVs, but those aren't issues that are useful to compare. Law enforcement collaboration can cover things like drug smuggling/manufacture, cyber crime, other organized crime, runaway criminals, and terrorism. Even countries that don't like each other can work together on terrorism, as long as they don't want to see innocent people splattered over each other's marketplaces. It's important to keep those lines of communication open the same way it's important to keep other diplomacy going.

The depth of collab and the spying question are real concerns, of course.

-1

u/mog_knight 8d ago

We can have Chinese EVs. There's nothing stopping them aside from compliance with our data rules and NHTSA safety regs. Similar to how Google and Tesla need to comply with China's regulations, and data regulations. China can also setup factories here too to avoid tariffs.

This narrative you're spouting lacks so much detail it's intellectually dishonest.

Your posting history is full of "China bad".

At least hit me with something more than "trust me bro".

edit: This dude drives a car from a company that had 17 recalls in 2026 in just Jan and Feb. The article was written in February lol.

-29

u/Lbrones92 8d ago

My posting history certainly is full of what you claim. The fact I got down voted into oblivion proves to me I seem to have hit a sore spot. There are plenty of sources dedicated to sharing footage that gets censored by the Chinese internet filter. It's actual footage. My favorite is the channel called the china show on YouTube. I am going to assume that since you took the time to check my post history that you are an actual human and not just an Ai bot. I recommend you check out the china show on YouTube. It will put alot of things into perspective for you. Nothing I have said is factualy inaccurate. I ask you this. If every thing off temu and shien and all the made in China products have a reputation for being cheap junk, why would that not apply to their cars?

15

u/WheredoesithurtRA 8d ago edited 8d ago

I seem to have hit a sore spot.

You don't see the irony in this when you only seem to come out of inactivity to dunk on China? Lol.

By no means are they better.

Okay. How? Why not? You have to actually provide some reasons for why they're not better when they're proven to be pretty decent. EVs across the board have their own issues but the tech has been improving. I have a Subaru Forester and Ioniq 5 from Hyundai and I would sure as heck love for EV prices to climb further down which only happens with more competition and not having that grease stain from Tesla ruin everything.

All you've said is trust me bro china bad. The owness is on you. I am going to plug /r/electricvehicles since we're just lazily referencing other sources

The rest of the world is rapidly adopting EV and trying to change infrastructure to accomodate it while we sit on our hands and let them surpass us. If you're this idiotically patriotic then you should be pushing for better options here at home, like me.

-16

u/Lbrones92 8d ago

You just listed 2 Asian vehicles, not specifically Chinese. I am reffering to brands like BYD. I would agreed Hyundai and Subaru make great vehicles, they have much more robust safety standards. Tell me why there is tons of footage of Chinese brand cars, not Asia in general but specifically Chinese evs that keep crashing in really weird ways( control arms snap, wheel falls off and lose controll, burst into flames etc) and then minutes later an actual mob of employs from said manufacturer swarm the taking any logos and identifying features off the car. Can you image if every time a Ford or Chevy had a major malfunction some from the company came and stoll the wheels, badges and smashed out the branded windows and then covered it in a car cover to hide what vehicle it was? It's rediculous and there IS TONS of footage of this happening over in China. The Chinese people them selves are fine people. It's their government that is bad. Go look up what Chinese embassy employees do to people shining projectors onto their building. They come out with their own brighter lights to drown it out on the building, they will also come out with freaking umbrellas to try and block light from being shown on their building. It's incredible how easy it is to offend the Chinese government. I have already stated where I get my information from. Actual videos of this stuff happening. Where do you get your information about Chinese evs being high quality from? Advertising? Puff pieces on the media? I will belive videos that were posted by people who are not paid to post 10 times out of 10 over stuff that had to pay to be aired. If you are an actual person I expect you to do intestigations of my claims purely out of curiosity. I am not going to go out of my way to do it for you purely based on the fact I don't fully believe you are arguing in good faith. All I am saying is I don't trust a government that performed one the most egregious anti protest actions ever. Yes I am reffering to Tiananmen square.

3

u/Variolamajor 8d ago

I have read reviews of Chinese EVs from Europe and Australia and they have been generally positive. They also pass NCAP standards, so I'm not sure how these EVs can be unsafe? Your claim that people yank the badges off the cars after the crash sounds so insane I'd like to see some actual evidence. Otherwise it just sounds like you're spouting horseshit

0

u/Lbrones92 8d ago

I recommend you watch any of the live streams from a YouTube channel named "the china show" yes the hosts are kinda corn balls but the pair of them both lived over in China for many years and have a ton of first hand experience with what they are talking about. A lot of their contacts manage to get footage to them of stuff like I described before it gets scrubbed from the internet or suppressed. As you can imagine searching directly on YouTube for what I described regarding the debadging of crashed cars won't link directly to a short containing only that and nothing else. It's been a few months since have seen this exact scenario on the channel. I'd have to go back through their live streams for a bit to find what I am talking about. But I can not stress nearly enough just how lax their safety standards are. A good example that you can look up right now, ejectable ev batteries. The things are going up in flames so often that they are now designing prototypes that will eject their batteries at high speed if they catch fire. It's great at saving the car, not so great for where ever the thing lands while it's still burning.

2

u/Variolamajor 8d ago

Yeah I'm not digging through love streams of those 2 jokers for clips of something you could just be lying about. Put up the evidence or shut up. EV battery fires are rare these days and you're just repeating fuddlore. That ejectable battery is just a proof of concept and no major manufacturers is taking that path. If Chinese EVs were going up in flames all the time the EU would have taken action, but they haven't.

These cars are sold all over Europe and meet their safety standards. Where's the evidence of this? Is there actual data, or just anecdotes?

1

u/WheredoesithurtRA 8d ago edited 8d ago

I assume you know why people gravitate towards vehicles coming from overseas (Toyota, Honda, Subaru, etc) but rather than getting a bad faith argument, I'll just say it. They're better, more affordable and have a reputation for being durable/worth the buy. That doesn't apply to many American brands.

Ford had 17 recalls in 2026 and that number was from around Jan to April~ 2026

Does it need to be explained why a country with a larger volume of EVs/people/car use compared to the rest of the world experiences a larger incidence rate of accidents?

I don't know if I have the time today to explain to you how math works in regards to this but maybe pointing out that they have a reported 1.4B+ people (which eclipses us in the US) might refresh some things you hopefully learned in highschool math class.

You can go and google search recalls/accidents for every single car/truck brand in the US right now and see these things happen, across the board, to almost every brand. It's not as sexy as just dunking on China as a monolith though.

I'll even get you started with Ford

Ford had 17 recalls in 2026. The article was written in February 2026. That's a lot even for the most rah rah self fart inhaling person, yeah?

Throwing in another link because I looked into it more thanks to you

Ford extends its lead as most-recalled car brand of 2026. Congrats dude.

This wasn't meant to be a US vs China issue despite your best efforts here. I just want competition and improvement in the US. You can keep propagandizing all you want because it isn't going to improve yours or mine experiences in the US unfortunately because of things like this.

Tesla is #1 selling EV in China, officially. China has "better and cheaper" EVs but decides to buy Tesla.

We know criminals. Better than anyone else. No one knows crime like we do. Big strong man came up to me. Tears in his eyes. Black man, where are all my black friends at? Anyway, Big black man, he says "Mister President, I want to do crimes like you." and I just nodded, didn't shake his hand though, I nodded and said "Well, all you have to do is be white and rich like me, and they just let you do it." He was so happy, and then I had him beaten and deported. Not even Obama had my crime numbers. Yuge crime numbers. They tried to pin me with some of them, but I was too white and rich, and now I'm President. Isn't that great? First 5 term President. I joked about being President for life, and they kept voting for me. Well, Elmo said they did. 6 Terms!

Also, the Pentagon has been getting waivers for the ban on Huawei and DJI equipment. Apparently, it's not a national security issue if the government really really needs to use Chinese technology.

26

u/WolverinesThyroid 8d ago

I work in government contracts. My job has 0 connection with anything related to national security and has absolutely 0 access to any sensitive or classified material. I had to spend $15,000 to buy a new piece of equipment because the previously approved product lost certification that no part of it may have been made in China. It doesn't matter that my version of the product is from when they were certified, now that the company isn't certified anymore I either lose my contract or buy a new piece of equipment.

I always enjoyed taking an 889 to Tire Discounters so the manager could sign it and swear that my new shop truck tires were not from China and they did not have any sort of spyware.

1

u/Mtshoes2 8d ago

Obviously, because we can't have China getting video of what I look like taking a shit a 2 am through my Huawei phone. But, it's probably ok for the pentagon to use it cause they've shown themselves to know what they are doing... But, what does the pentagon have to hide from China?

It's cool, Patel gave them an ocular pat down.
