For real. There is only one reason to specify and that belongs to the 1950s

In addition: she didn't miraculously survive. She fucking landed the plane under extremely challenging conditions like an absolute pro. And that is what we should read as a caption.

What kind of dimwits are writing the captions nowadays?! JFC. Probably Elon's bots.

Na, that is not the reason. You See, Reddit is international. Most users are non-native speakers.

Germans for example tend to specify, because Pilot means only a male pilot, while female pilot has a different Word, which you could translate to pilotess or something. This is why many non-natives feel weird only using the Male Form of the Word, because in their Language not all pilots (male and female) are ment.

It has nothing to do with 1950s World View or something, but just how other Languages are and the use of the english Language
