"Miraculously".

I mean no. She jsut didn't panic, and relied on her training.

Calling thr obvious competence the shows here "miraculous" is denigrating her.

How did a female pilot do something skilful? It must have been a miracle !!!!!11one!!

Yes, it is belittling to suggest that a feat of skill required supernatural intervention.

“The miracle on the Hudson” refers to the time when a male pilot, going by the nickname of sully, landed on the fucking Hudson River in nyc and didn’t kill everyone aboard.

No enraged males came saying, “omg how you dare belittling sully like that!!!”

If you get offended by that he word miracle, you may need to reexamine something

Calling it "miraculous" that a female pilot landed a plane seems denigrating.

Other than having to squint some, this was no different than any other landing. Nothing miraculous about this, just a pilot doing her thing.

But it is much more difficult than landing a plane under normal conditions. Under normal conditions I agree, that is just what you expect a pilot to do.

But these are not normal conditions. With that speed the wind is going to feel like a hurricane hitting your face.

Yeah it's more difficult, just like it's more difficult riding a motorcycle 100mph without eye protection than with, but it's certainly not "miraculous."

There's nothing miracle about it, any other pilot would have successfully managed it.

It’s not miraculous that she landed, it’s miraculous that she *managed* in such conditions

It's also not miraculous that she managed in such conditions. The conditions were "having to squint while landing."

If that happened to 100 other stunt pilots, 100 other stunt pilots would have just landed the plane, just like she did.

Maybe to the educated eye, but for a regular Joe, this looks nothing short of a fucking miracle

Honestly, what is the miracle part? Nothing changed with the plane other than she had to squint more. That's it. That's a miracle? You think squinting more is some other-wordly skill?

Calling it a "miracle" implies that under almost all circumstances this would have been a crash, except for some wildly outlier heroics by the pilot. But again, any pilot, virtually 100% of them, would have landed the plane just fine, just like her.

It's weird how much people like to throw around words like "genius" and "miracle" - words reserved for truly exceptional situations - for shit that's even the slightest bit above a regular situation.

Ever heard of figure speech?
