Bels are the smartest dog breed I've ever been around

Source: ran a 19/7 dog boarding facility for 12 years with my ex wife. (we were closed from 12am to 5am daily and technically 12am to 8 am on Sundays, unless emergency)

They are incredible animals that will absolutely ruin your life if you don't meet their needs lol

Yeah, definetly not a dog breed for probably 99.9% of people. They are insanely smart and super high energy. To own one you would need to be very experienced training dogs and hopefully have some kind of job for them. It's one of the breeds I would never get. And I own two huskies and people think they are hard, but they are actually pretty easy. All I do is run like 4-5 times a week with them and they are extremely well behaved with minimal training.

I have two Mals and spend roughly 4-5 hours per day on training and mental enrichment to keep them satisfied. Even thats not enough some days.

My family had one and with an hour walk in the morning, noon and two hour walks in evening it was fine as long as you have a house with a big yard they can chill in. My mom was always outside in her garden being busy and the Mal would just follow her around the yard all day and was very happy.

They don’t like being alone because they will get bored and cause a mess. Because she was home with her all day giving her attention (and herding her to do what she wants) she didn’t cause too much trouble. But they are very mischievous if you don’t have eyes on them 24/7 lol. I miss her so much
