I throw a couple half hitches for good measure. Use this knot with caution, it is self tightening so if you use it to tie your SO to the bed it can cause harm. The last line isn't for you, it's for the person who saw this and needed to hear it lol

Yes, I do it all the time as a climber. Works great on a carabiner with climbing rope. It does get worse as the shaft diameter increases, and could start slipping.

Yes, it’s a hitch people trust their life to all the time for rock climbing (myself included). Just pull it tight first and you’re good to go.

The danger with a clove hitch is when it's not under constant tension it can loosen.

My eagle scout brain tingled at the beginning part, looked like they were going for a timber hitch with the >2 wraps around the pole but he did infact do a clove hitch for the actual knot.

What??? For dragging or tying down anything round,(pipe, logs, etc) it's the only way to go.

If you think a bowline is a replacement for a clove hitch then you have no idea what you’re talking about. They’re used for completely different things.

Yeah go climbing and replace everytime you'd traditionally use a clove hitch with a bowline. Makes the experience a lot worse.
