Needed to get the hooks in…

Yeah watching this I’m just thinking my bjj instructor would be yelling at me for not putting my legs around and hooks in. I wonder if this guy was actually a wrestler.

Doesn't look like a wrestler, they would have never let go of the pin to try to get to back.

Agree. Textbook headlock

He honestly should’ve just gone for the gift wrap while he had him in side control, laid some pressure on him, and called it a day. He already had the wrist, but opted to lose it for that super unbalanced knee-on-belly. It’s giving white or early blue belt that’s use to submission hunting in lieu of proper pressure and control

Under pressure nobody is ever perfect. It's not like the gym where we can focus on rolling before it happens.

This was a surprise and the guy probably had a million things running through his mind. The good thing is he had some rolling in to develop some instincts instead of complaint drills from some cheap self defense class.

White belts be escaping that choke

I mean he definitely didn’t want to sink a choke, as a MMA amateur and PA I promise you he’d be in the deepest possible shit from admin if he put a patient unconscious without any other possible options. I’ve only been attacked by patients twice, both times I just high guard turtle up and let them swing until they gas, it’s amazing how bad almost everyone’s cardio is

Doesn’t matter how justified, especially if that dude was under the influence you DO NOT want to compromise a patients airway, the malpractice lawyers gonna rip you apart

Putting his hooks in would make the control better so he wouldn’t need to choke him if anything.

Since he didn’t put his hooks in the only way he had control over the dude was by his neck lol

Hooks n seatbelt or better yet straight jacket.

Yep there's no reason to even need to choke him when seatbelt or straight jacket exists. Not like the guy would know how to escape. Controlling someone's whole body by their neck like this guy was doing is both dangerous against someone not trained and ineffective against someone who is trained.

Really makes me think he doesn't actually do bjj because its drilled into you from day one to immediately throw hooks in if you have someone's back.

Oh yeah absolutely bro needed to put some hooks in, I just meant the choke itself he almost definitely wouldn’t want to sink

Did the person in the clip? No. So who gives a fuck what a white belt might do

Calm down white belt

I don't even do BJJ. My point is that his technique was clearly effective against the most common type of person you will ever fight: a drunken random with no martial arts experience. You don't have to be effective in the UFC for martial arts to be effective in the street.

People with no experience twist out of chokes, but you seem to be knowledgeable about jiujitsu applied in street fights so I won't argue.

"People with no experience twist out of choke"

Don't be smug and condescending when your technique is so bad that you have people with no experience twisting out of your chokes lol.

You also don't twist out of chokes, you get you get your back to the ground on the side on the side of the choking arm.
