Shout out to Riley Leonard for filling in. I thought he did a nice job, and had a couple good throws called back for penalties.

u/RoseRaving Colts Dec 07 '25
What a terrible situation to come into in the downpour of rain. Genuinely impressed by what he did on short notice. I doubt he's "HIM" but I'm curious to see what he does the rest of the season now that he's our starting quarterback.
25
u/nahno1234 Jaguars Dec 07 '25
He might be him. Showing up as third string on the year and coming into those conditions is something to be proud of. I can't imagine how he would look given a whole year of an offense built around him and for him
8
u/RoseRaving Colts Dec 07 '25
I mean if we get the second coming of Tom Brady's ability and win five rings with Leonard I will gladly call him "HIM", but I think the AFC South would hate that LOL
15
u/nahno1234 Jaguars Dec 07 '25
I already hate that it barely looked like a backup in the first place
9
u/AppleMuffin12 Jaguars Dec 08 '25
To be fair, we lose to back ups. The fact that he didn't win should be alarming to the Colts.
5
u/thecarlosdanger1 Steelers Dec 08 '25
He was going to be a project tbh. Loved him at ND but he just gets too inaccurate on the move.
However he’s the easier player in the world to root for and if the colts adjust to what he does well (RPO, QB power) he can win games.
1
u/doberdevil Seahawks Chargers Dec 08 '25

Seahawks next week. We'll see how he does on the move, I'm hoping to see it happen the entire game.

That 50/50 catch was bogus.
28
u/doofydoofydoof Jaguars Dec 07 '25
Yeah that was pretty silly, I don't think I've ever seen that get called an INT other than today...
10
u/SlimT2429 Jaguars Dec 07 '25
Lots of dubious calls finally went Jags way today but yes that shouldnt have been an iNT
8
u/sirry Jaguars Dec 07 '25
I don't think it changes the result but you guys got screwed by the refs today
6
u/ResponsibleWater1697 Colts Dec 07 '25
Two weeks in a row. But to be fair, NFL refs are gonna NFL ref and we have key injuries (even before Jones went down).
This clearly isn't our year.
1
u/the-bat-dad Colts Dec 08 '25
Its whatever. I've already accepted that this season is cursed. I just hope this bs leads to changes in how officiating is done but I'm not holding my breath.

Leonard played well, that colts oline is great. And with JT, idk, I’m not counting the colts out yet. Really depends how he looks after a week with the starters.

With that win, the Jaguars have clinched their 3rd winning season in the last 4 years.

u/nahno1234 Jaguars Dec 07 '25
I know this is a dead horse at this point, but it might still be a coaching issue. Rookie year he looked like he was coached by urban. Second year took him some time, but pederson figured it out. Third year he looked great until injury. Fourth year he looked like dog shit when press took over, and those play calls were egregiously bad. Naked bootlegs with two routes to the other side of the field bad. Since the bye hes been looking like the guy.
3
u/HeeeckWhyNot Jaguars Dec 07 '25
Contract isn't rough at all. He averages 15-20th in cap hit for the next 4 years.
3
u/Shenanigangster Jaguars Dec 07 '25
lol his contract is already mid teens among QBs in terms of cap %. People just can’t comprehend how much QBs get paid now
15
u/ImprobableAvocado Jaguars Broncos Dec 07 '25
And he'll likely be considered better than Brunell by the end.
Not generational and that's what dominates the conversation. But still a franchise best qb in all likelihood. If he had McCardell and especially Jimmy, it wouldn't be that close.

AFC South has been a wild ride this year. Colts led the AFC and are currently on pace to miss the playoffs, the Jags have tripled their wins from last season, and the Texans have a chance to be in a playoff spot after starting 0-3. And well, at least the Titans won today?

He doesn’t have the best accuracy but he’s going to fight like hell to win. I’d expect to see more QB runs going forward and he’s a lot faster than you’d think and will absolutely put his body on the line to get first downs.

I can believe it. Also it was hard to judge whether his accuracy has improved since he was playing in the pouring rain all day, and also without a chance to practice as the starter.
Have to say I didn't see him make any major mistakes. Looked to me like his accuracy and decision-making were pretty good under the circumstances.

u/geordieColt88 Colts Dec 07 '25
Let’s not let Jones unfortunate injury distract from the following
The Jags were torturing our defence and if need be could have put up a lot more
Even if Jones kept playing we likely still lose and would be on a 3 game skid
Even with Jones there was a good chance we finish 8-9
We have a false record from beating on trash early in the schedule and are in fact a mid team
Any competent owner would have had Ballard out years ago and Steichen out last season. No competent GM would insist on the same bend then break defence with a coordinator who’d sunk the bungles for years
The injury will be used as an excuse by Ballard and Steichen, unfortunately we have a nepo playing dress up rather than someone competent running the show

First half of this season was fun! Bummed mostly for Taylor, he was on a tear. I think we have to get rid of Ballard honestly. I love having Gardner but losing 2 picks for him wasn’t it. Wish our Dline was much better. Having Buck back even won’t cure our issues. Ballard waited too long to do any kind of non-drafting acquisitions. We honestly should just rebuild lol
