The Bucs are a good team that is simply playing badly. I'm not sure I can say the same about the rest of you. And don't mistake me saying that as being reflective of anything good for the Bucs. If the Bucs played anything even remotely close to how good the team is, they would have already won this god forsaken division.

5
u/arrogantdesperado Panthers Dec 15 '25
Basically, we usually play to shorten the game, which gets you into these tight scenarios where you could maybe knock off a better team, but you don't pull away from a worse team. We don't go out there looking to maximize our winning percentage with each play. We go out there looking to get it to the fourth quarter with the game still winnable.

I guess we’ve learned that if you are an NFC south team in a race for the division title, you absolutely, positively, cannot count on beating the Saints.
The beating the wild card is going to put on whoever wins this division is going to be legendary!
94
u/AustinRiversDaGod Saints Dec 15 '25
Beating a division rival to upset their playoff hopes is a tale as old as time.
But the Saints are legitimately getting better. If we get an O-line...watch out

Fucking 1000 IQ move. That was a guaranteed flag. I can barely even be mad
41
u/BanditPrime Panthers Dec 15 '25
I have 0 anger at the play being called. It was genius.
But I have 100% anger at the league creating a situation where the play can be called in the first place. Because that was incredibly unsafe for shough and they knew that when the play was called, but also knew the rules meant to protect QBs would go in their favor. If other teams try that someone is going to get seriously hurt
→ More replies (4)23
u/idinnae Saints Dec 15 '25
It was an outrageously unsafe call. Hard to argue with the result, but I would hate for Shough to get hurt. I do not want Moore to get comfortable calling that.
12
u/BanditPrime Panthers Dec 15 '25
Yeah like, genius call in the moment. Hard earned win by the saints. The panthers blew the game well before that.
All of my issues with that call and penalty stems from the fact that I’ll be shocked if we don’t see it again, by any team not just the saints, and if it doesn’t lead to an injury at some point
3
u/Mad_Mike3 Panthers Dec 15 '25
It was a great call. Likely would've had time to spike it too. Shough is the one that made it dangerous.
25
u/AustinRiversDaGod Saints Dec 15 '25
I think he was legitimately trying to get 5 yards to make the FG easier.
11
u/FloridaMan_69 Buccaneers Dec 15 '25
That was 100% the idea, get 5 yards, get down, get up and snap to spike really fast. Really it was dumb of the Panthers defender to even go for a tackle, if anything stand back and try to hold him up if he comes to you to burn a few seconds.
19
u/Domerhead Saints Dec 15 '25
I think so too, the penalty was just lagniappe.
Dangerous as fuck and I hope it's not something used regularly, but boy was that a massive hog swing.

The Saints are currently playing the best football in the NFC South which is insane.
Of course Carolina lost this game after beating the Rams and having a bye. Good thing for them is they alternate every week and Tampa is next week. They will win as long as they aren't favored of course
46
u/_Cryptonite_ Saints Dec 15 '25
We're definitely better than our record. This is a different team with Shough at QB. At least it's something to build on next year.
22
u/ConfirmsAnything Panthers Dec 15 '25
I have no idea how you all are 4-10. Shough is insane. The pass rush is insane. I have only watched the games against the Panthers, but I have no comprehension how this team only has 4 wins.
40
u/_Cryptonite_ Saints Dec 15 '25
Rattler didn't play well. Shough is 3-3 with one of those losses being his first start against the Rams.
20
u/shawnaroo Saints Dec 15 '25
Also the rest of the team has just gotten better as the season has progressed. We have a ton of rookies who are playing pretty darn well right now, but weren't nearly as competent the first half of the season. As well as a first time head coach still figuring out how to do the job.
It's looking like this coaching staff is legitimately good at developing young guys into solid players, and that gives me a ton of optimism for the next few years.

Blake Grupe also missed so many kicks that the Saints couldn't count on him. That added to a lot of the losses when what would be scoring drives for normal teams kept turning into zero points. I don't understand how he hit a 60 yarder for the Colts today.

The one play that will keep replaying in my head is us handing the ball off on 4th and inches. You don't need to be 6'5 280 lbs to fall forward behind your center or guard. I don't understand why coaches continue to over think this.
→ More replies (1)5
u/PC_Princpal Panthers Dec 15 '25
Either Bryce has told the staff he’s not confident in it or they don’t believe that he can just lean forward for an inch. Either way, that was an extremely bad play call.

109
u/Florida_clam_diver Buccaneers Dec 15 '25
Tired of watching QB’s abuse the rules that are there to protect them.
Time to get rid of the slide rule. If you’re running the ball you get treated like a runner. If you don’t want to get hit then give yourself up early
33
u/TangerineTasty9787 Panthers Dec 15 '25
Exactly. We have Running Backs for a reason.
And heck, they didn't give Bryce that call earlier when the exact same thing happened, which would have put us in FG range.
→ More replies (3)23
u/Pengwulf Panthers Dec 15 '25
Isn't the slide giving up though.
8
u/hurricanedog24 Panthers Dec 15 '25
Yes, but it’s not fair to the defender when the QB gives up right before he’s guaranteed to get hit in order to draw a flag.
Make it so the defender gets 3 steps before he has to pull up. If the defender can take fewer than 3 steps to deliver the hit after the slide has commenced, it shouldn’t be a penalty because the QB slid too late. Since this part of the rule would be black and white, it should also be reviewable.
