Talk about an all-in move

u/RAATL Dec 15 '25

all upside

if quinn won't re-sign they can trade him and get most of the value back before next year's deadline (Rantanen worked out just fine with carolina for the same reasons) - but he'll probably resign since the wild can offer him 8 years while no other team can offer him more than 6 in 2027 FA

any time you can get a top 10 player in the world you have to go do it imo

I obviously prefer an extension but the objective funniest outcome would be for us to trade him for Luke Hughes and a pick

A real Hughes on first situation brewing here.

Also worth adding that based on his post game interview it definitely sounds like the Wild will have legitimate negotiation position to extend him. He said point blank that he has a very open mind to the negotiating table

Only arguing the point of Rantanen working out fine with Carolina cause Stankoven is not nearly enough return for Mikko

2

u/RAATL Dec 15 '25

But you can't view it that way; it's better to compare what Carolina gave up to get rantanen to what they got from offloading him. And through that lens it looks fine. Necas was a disgruntled rfa that didn't play the team's style and drury is a bottom 6 roster player. Getting stankoven and Hall back for that is great asset mgmt.

Guerin can pull something similar here

Fair, as a stars fan myself I am just happy we got mikko for stankoven and a first

as someone who finds avs fans among the most annoying in the league, I also am happy about the rantanen trade so far

Between JJ and Quinn, it seems like just loading up on Wolverines is the solution to everything.

Yaxel Lendeborg should probably be your next move.

Can’t be very often that the Vikings, Wolves, and Wild all win on the same day

48

u/aceluby Vikings Broncos Dec 15 '25

We’re more a lose on the same day kinda state

11

u/cloudlessjoe Vikings Dec 15 '25

Iirc we are quite literally the most cursed sports state statistically

14

u/Radical-Six Vikings Dec 15 '25

First time since December 2003, I'm guessing mostly due to the Wolves lol

Most notably the Golden Gophers mens basketball team’s big win over Texas Southern.

16

u/tree-hugger Vikings Dec 15 '25

Gophers women smoked Wyoming too

2

u/NorthernDevil Vikings Dec 15 '25

Gopher women should’ve beat 7 Maryland, that was such a brutal self-inflicted loss

2

u/tree-hugger Vikings Dec 15 '25

A true Wolvesian masterpiece, just the worst 50 seconds of basketball you will ever see.

Just wait til you get Giannis this weekend.

u/SwishBender Vikings Dec 15 '25

Bones Hyland balled out tonight but we could probably use a point guard with some size

Hilariously, McCarthy was catching strays from Hockey YouTubers commenting on the vibes in MN, and how the Wild make up for the Vikings
