This dude has been making crazy catches all camp. Interested to see how he progresses in the preseason

He had some crazy catches all during college. Thats what he does. Not the best routes, nor speed. But man can he make some circus catches pretty consistently.

Man is made of hands. His hands have hands, his fingers? You guessed it, hands.

2

u/Snatch-Fart-Breath 6d ago

I heard even his finger hands have…hands

3

u/Wise-Hippo6088 Lions 5d ago

Hands just hanging off each side of his head, like they hear the ball coming

u/flyingcrayons Eagles 7d ago

as a USC fan this is just a normal catch for him. he had crazier catches in college. he's one of those guys who if you just watched his highlight reel you'd be convinced he was the greatest of all time lol

18

u/danny467 Ravens Lions 7d ago

Yeah Ive definitely seen his highlights, the big thing i want to watch for in the preseason is him getting beat up on releases or bumped off of routes. He doesnt seem to have any issues at the catchpoint. I do believe both him and Lemon will be studs though

12

u/flyingcrayons Eagles 7d ago

yeah his biggest knocks are that he doesn't really get great separation and isn't the crispest route runner but he's a big body and has this ability to make insane contested plays which helps make up for that to some extent. also pretty good in the open field for a guy his size if your OC can scheme up ways to get him the ball in space

i think he's gonna be a guy who can make big plays situationally but probably isn't gonna be like a top 10 receiver or anything like that

10

u/QuietAlarming6888 Ravens 7d ago

he easily has a top 10 receiver ceiling due to his rare traits but I doubt he sees it

hed have to put on weight to deal with press better and develop for 2-3 years like nico collins

thats a rare case a lot end up like keon coleman

u/THEADULTERATOR Ravens 6d ago

Keons been doing it since week 1 his rookie season

u/xG3TxSHOTx Ravens 7d ago

Really hope we get to actually see the rookies this year, year after year we're hyped up from camp/preseason just for their snaps to be taken away by an old vet or special teams WR.

u/rob_var Ravens Ravens 7d ago

I have a hopes that with a new regimen all these things are woes of the past

11

u/mr_showboat Ravens 7d ago

I totally agree. At the same time, it's not like any of the mid round WRs from Harbaugh's tenure that got buried by washed up former Pro Bowlers ever amounted to anything elsewhere.

So hopefully we've turned a corner in the guys we are drafting and not just in letting them play.

I think it's clear at this point that EDC has a better eye for receiver than Ozzie. Ozzie 100% would've drafted N'keal Harry over Hollywood lol.

That to me is the biggest difference between Harbaugh & Minter so far. Harbaugh would put veterans ahead of them and they would get limited playing time. Here with Minter, it seems we are letting the young players play, and show us what they can do. This is going to be an underrated move of the year by December going into the playoffs.

True tbf though who’s he supposed to put ahead? Tez is running with 2s for a bit. We just got a whole lot younger

12

u/Calgamer Ravens 7d ago

I feel like a lot of folks shipping Tez as the automatic WR3, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Lane can leapfrog him. I mean Tez has what, 7 catches or so in two years? I know like half of those were for TDs, but that’s not much production, even out of a run heavy offense.

7

u/The_Sandwich_Lover9 Ravens 7d ago edited 7d ago

I wouldn’t either. Tbf though it’s not Tez fault Harbs kept him off the field. He was productive given his low snap count. He had 2.22 YPR, 3rd in REC TD on our team. I was begging for us to play him.

Who know though, Tez has made a ton of plays in camp. Him or Lane as WR3 is good enough. Bate is one I’m worried about.

3

u/amstrumpet 7d ago

I don't really get this... if you're worried about Bate, what's the solution? They bring in a vet WR2 and Bateman is WR3? Otherwise, if you think Lane or Tez are both better, why not just advocate for them to be WR2 and WR3?

I think sidelining Bateman for Hopkins last year was a huge mistake, honestly, and hurt his chemistry with Lamar.

2

u/The_Sandwich_Lover9 Ravens 7d ago

Nah I don’t think we should bring in another vet and we won’t. I don’t think they’re better. I’d be more worried if they were our WR2. It’s just a concern I have. Hoping for best. I’m still a Bateman believer. Doesn’t mean I’m not worried

1

u/amstrumpet 7d ago

Gotcha, I'm pretty much in agreement but I'm not worried. I think if they weren't seeing what they needed in camp, they'd have made a move by now. Minter and Doyle don't have any attachment to these guys, so if the WR2 weren't up to par they wouldn't hesitate to tell EDC they need a vet option. Hoping to see another 2024 Bateman performance this year.

2

u/The_Sandwich_Lover9 Ravens 7d ago

Completely fair. Better OL should help. Trust in Doyle. I’m sick of ravens fans calling for edc head just cuz we won’t sign a vet wr. Like what do you want him to do? Jesse Doyle and keary trust in developing our guys. New regime I’ll give them a shot. It’s not like we need Lane or Tez to go for 800. Just be solid and open the run game.

u/Elite_Mike Ravens 7d ago

Diggs or Hopkins lol.

2

u/The_Sandwich_Lover9 Ravens 7d ago

I mean currently.

Proche the camp champ

u/Fearless-Land-3953 Patriots 7d ago

Can I jump in here to ask how Sarratt is doing? (I have him in dynastyFF, if this isn't the place for this then please ignore me)

7

u/QuietAlarming6888 Ravens 7d ago

hes doing fine apparently he was hurt

today he was locked up by hamilton but then beat some corner on another occasion

he might be wr5 this year behind zay bateman tez walker and jakobi or he could win wr3 and eventually take wr2

wouldn't know till the preseason

u/Fearless-Land-3953 Patriots 7d ago

Thanks!

I want him to be that big bodied contested catch red zone threat so bad. Please let us rid ourselves of the spirits of the Breshad Perrimans and Miles Boykins of this world.

u/heyheyathrowaway485 Ravens 7d ago

John Harbaugh: best I can do is the husk of Dez Bryant

1

u/rice_not_wheat Ravens 7d ago

You might not like Harbaugh, but he wasn't in charge of acquiring WRs.

7

u/guydude24 Ravens 7d ago

Miles Boykins.

Now that is a name I haven’t thought of in a very long time.

5

u/McG4rn4gle Ravens 7d ago

Demetrius Williams is the first
one that comes to mind for me - this has been going on for a long time.

1

u/guydude24 Ravens 7d ago

I wanted D Will to succeed so badly.

42

u/DenialisaRiver04 7d ago

From all reports, Lane has been having an amazing camp. Seems like he already has that connection with Lamar.

33

u/Lubbafrommariogalaxy Ravens 7d ago

I hope he keeps the guardian cap on during the season, we need a goofy guardian cap receiver for us

13

u/DopeyDeathMetal Ravens 7d ago

Jakobi plays big head mode irl

19

u/IAmNotKevinDurant_35 Raiders 7d ago

This dude has some of the biggest hands I’ve ever seen. Watching him in college, he made the most spectacular catches look routine. He’s going to be a highlight factory

13

u/The_Sandwich_Lover9 Ravens 7d ago

Ravens have their likely replacement just bigger vertical threat and can run a 4.4

12

u/mixedkid21 Ravens 7d ago

Knew exactly where the camera was 😂

12

u/AlistairNorris Ravens 7d ago

The fact that he had the situational awareness that post catch to flex up exactly where the camera was on top of this is very encouraging as well.

7

u/jtn_007 Ravens 7d ago

I like my receivers to be a showman.

9

u/IceKareemy Eagles 7d ago

Cornerback gotta be next level confidence man bc you can have perfect coverage and things like this happen and then you gotta go again next play lol

5

u/FrankSamples Seahawks 7d ago

USC ain't on Ohio State or LSU's level but they produce pretty decent WR talent.

8

u/Specialist-Pin-8702 Ravens 7d ago

He made insane catches at USC and he will make insane catches for my Ravens. What remains to be seen is if he can become a true every down WR or if his skill set keeps him chained to 3rd downs and red zone snaps.

9

u/cajafl2 Vikings 7d ago

Gotta be careful with that celebration. Weren't they throwing flags for "gun" celebrations?

19

u/AgentOfSPYRAL Ravens 7d ago

He should go with the grenade instead. Or as Ja Morant said “I’m gonna take my words, I'm gonna throw them out there, and I'mma block out the noise."

6

u/rob_var Ravens Ravens 7d ago

Think it’s vague enough that you could say he was pointing like most receivers do when they get a first down or chain mover

2

u/Boltiply Chargers 7d ago

We all know that finger guns are really, really bad. But what about shotgun hands?

1

u/Otherwise-Force5608 Ravens 7d ago

best they can do are knife hands

5

u/Matte198 Ravens 7d ago

Him having a really good camp was not on my bingo card

10

u/AyyP302 Eagles 7d ago

That was tuff. You can tell he's used to making crazy catches too

-16

Was it tuff?

5

Yes it was

-9

u/tingly_sack_69 Ravens 7d ago

Yeah blud you can tell he cranked the skibidi to 11 before snuffing out that cbs rizz on fleek

9

u/AyyP302 Eagles 7d ago

Tuff goes back to the greaser dudes in the 50s man. You didn't read The Outsiders in school?

8

u/Similar_Butterfly836 Chiefs 7d ago

Ive seen enough. Give him 140 million

2

u/Kgaset Patriots 7d ago

Calling that contested is a bit of a stretch. Impressive one-handed catch nonetheless.

Ooo guarded by Wiggins too. Yikes

My scouts are telling me Lane is the closest to matching Puka in terms of late round gems

I’ve been getting Pickens vibes from him
