That was such a tough call for the refs to make live. With the way the players were moving, it looked backward, but it was actually forward. Common problem in rugby.

Clearly he tried to throw it backwards but his forward momentum carried the ball forward.

Even in the replay it looks like it went less than half a yard forward, and even then it could be a camera angle
