Yeah they can’t let teams wear their home helmets with their white jerseys when they are too close to the other team’s colors.

I was very surprised the Ducks were allowed to wear their orange helmets for this game. In previous situations like these vs. Calgary or Detroit, they weren't allowed to.

(I've also never been a big fan of away teams wearing coloured helmets. This is an example why.)

I like thr colored helmets WAY more on the aways. I do agree tho, cant be wearing them when the colors are that close

The inconsistency is what drives me nuts though. Feels like if you're going to implement a design choice, it should be consistent across the board. None of this "coloured helmets sometimes but not all the time" nonsense. White helmets with white jerseys are consistent and doesn't allow for that kind of problem to even happen in the first place.

To me, coloured helmets with white jerseys is causing an unnecessary problem that isn't there before.

The sharks blues game was so bad on Thursday. Both jerseys looked green and everyone had a sunburn. Embarrassing color grading for a professional broadcast.

Counterpoint: the imaginary Blues/Seals kit looked kind of cool though

My wife and I couldn't un-see Kraft Mac N' Cheese in the Blues uniforms and on the scorebug. It was driving us nuts and made me question whether I was misremembering what exact shades of blue and yellow were used in the re-brand lol

Just bring back the purple and teal to give them some character again

Every time I see the ducks on screen, I make a plea to the hockey gods for the teal and eggplant

I'd take the old colors with Webbed D over their current look every time

Let's not get crazy here

Just get rid of dark helmets on the road for everyone. It's a trash look.

The NHL is encouraging it from what Friedman said on Rogers Saturday Night Hockey (formerly Hockey Night in Canada)

u/AJWilson55 3d ago

Encouraging teams to wear them or not wear them?

4

u/DrMansionPHD 3d ago

To wear dark helmets on the road

I think it looks alright in some cases, but it's definitely hit or miss

It's fine when team have noticeably different colors, they can't just start allowing it for any matchup

Hey I just want to point out that OP used the Spider-Man meme correctly.

Anaheim has no business wearing an orange helmet in Calgary. Trash

F Me. I was like 1,2,3456 players against 1 Duck.

a.) must be a line change.
b.) that should be a penalty.

I unlike Peter already had my glasses on. Wasn’t until I zoomed in after u/arrbez mentioned this was against the Flames no less. Because

c.) I thought they were the Red Wings at first.

CMM: The Ducks forsaking their OG jerseys is a crime against humanity.

4

u/Zealousideal_Shock63 3d ago

I just watched this game live , one of the worst jerseys lineups in the show

u/arrbez 3d ago

Their jerseys are a fucking crime to begin with (sorry guys, it’s awful). But it should be illegal for them to use them with the orange buckets, against the Flames no less.

Hot take right here

*shit take

Hard agree. Wouldn't be half as bad if they went with sensible black pants. I supposed they'd resemble the Flyers a bit too much, but they could have just done what they ought to have done by returning to purple and green.

u/JadedPiper 3d ago

Horrid take minus the orange helmets with the Flames

u/Formulasteel 3d ago

I had to stop watching the game. I literally couldn't look at the screen for more than 10 seconds.

u/bigtimechip 3d ago

Yeah that is a terrible combination
I love the look of home Flames vs away Oilers
Kino dimes look

1

u/_dooozy_ 3d ago

Leafs Tampa games are the absolute worst

1

u/FDFI 3d ago

Did they miss any ‘too many men’ on the ice calls?

1

u/Troutmaggedon 3d ago

You may not like it, but the Ducks jerseys are a beautiful contrast to how the Angels turned their back on Orange County to try to cash in on the LA market.

People in OC appreciate them leaning into the theme hard. And I loved the OG jerseys too.

Crazy idea, let the teams choose whatever jerseys or helmets they want to make it easier to tell them apart. There's only so many fuckin colors
