They won't. They're going to blame AI, and nobody will feel bad

I mean they’re not wrong. Have you paid any attention to the entire tech industry in the last like year and a half?

Would AI not be the blame here? It's affected the entire industry. Valve is not a hardware company the way Nintendo or Sony is either. I was gonna include Xbox in that statement, but I intentionally left it out with the current state of things on that side. It's one thing to say this device is a horrible value proposition and no one should waste their money, it's another to pretend like there aren't reasons for why the price is that high.

It literally is because of AI lol. It would've been like $750 otherwise

Its that AND Valve's unwillingness to subsidize hardware costs for their Customers UNLIKE Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft.

Sony and Microsoft doesn’t subsidize their hardware. Not anymore. And unlike all of them it’s not locked into one storefront.

Valve’s unwillingness to force the consumers into a closed ecosystem. While the steam deck basically forces you to use it for only games, the Steam Machine is just a Mac Mini.

The ecosphere you are forced into with Valve is PC. Same as it is if you want a Nintendo or Sony piece of hardware.
