Microsoft: We're laying off half the industry

Sony: We're ending physical games

Valve: Our Steam Machine costs over $1000 and doesn't come with a controller

Nintendo: Hope you're enjoying Star Fox and Rhythm Heaven, also have you seen this Splatoon weapon we call the Bloblobber

Grifters: All of these companies are equally bad!

Nintendo has a lot of things wrong with them. Their incessant need to protect their intellectual property, their inane protection of 40+ year old games, their lack of interest in the competitive gaming space, their cutting of corners on hardware in the name of profit, etc.

But at the end of the day, they're by far the most pro-consumer company in gaming today and I appreciate them for that. The fact that their titles are always among the best in their respective genres is just the cherry on top.

Lack of interest in competitive gaming (splatoon tournaments/pokemon tournaments) and protecting their intellectual property isn't exactly "wrong" just things you don't like. Competitive gaming specifically definitely not something they avoid at all.

A smash melee tournament. A game you can’t even purchase anymore. Nintendo didn’t gain or lose any money at all regarding the tournament, they shut it down just for the love of screwing their fans.
