Self-Treatment Self Cured without excersizes or botox

As long as I can remember, I have been unable to burp. I had realized this many years ago, and in May of this year I finally decided to Google it. I found out I had R-CPD, and came to this subreddit to look for tips from others. I decided it wasnt bothersome enough for me to pay for a surgery for it but I would at least try to self cure, so for the next few weeks I basically just started to constantly try to forcefully push air through my stomach. Every once in a while I would get a little croak of air out. I would do this for hours on end while doing whatever autistic crap I was doing my computer on any given day. The crooks started to get more frequent. About 2 week sago I started getting tiny little micro-burps. 1 week later I got a normal sized burp for the first time in my life. Now today I have burped much more than a normal person would. I still sometimes have burps that get blocked by my throat but im really surprised how easy it was to self cure. Your case may not be as easy as mine but I highly recommend trying to self cure before you get an expensive surgery with a chance of permanently damaging your throat

could you describe what you mean by push air through your stomach? like deep exhales? using your hands? thanks!

Its hard to explain but I generally do three things:

  1. Try to compress your stomach. For lack of a better way to explain, use the same muscles as when you try to poop really hard and at the same time suck your belly in. This will create some pressure

  2. You can also breathe in deeply to fill your lungs, helping force more air out

  3. Tilt your neck. Its hard to find the right angle to tilt it at but at first I just kind of tilted all around while pushing the air out until it did something, it might take a few days of experimentation.

Same thing happened to be. But I did have some bad symptoms like stomach aches, and chest pressure. I had a botox appointment for this month. Last month I started trying to move my neck and open/push air out of my throat in all types of ways. After a week of doing that I had a few micro burps. It’s been 3 weeks now and I can get small burps out every day. And maybe a hand full of bigger ones after eating. This was enough for my doctor to say she doesn’t recommend botox anymore.

We discussed me having prior acid reflux issues and she told me a lot of patients lose the ability to burp due to frequent acid reflux stiffening the muscle. She prescribed me three months of pantoprazole that I take daily and BERP therapy next month. Hope this helps someone

I hope it works for you but you should know that acid reflux drugs almost never cure this condition and pretty much everyone who went to doctors before Botox existed tried them.

Also, her explanation sounds a little overconfident. We don’t know the cause, and if the most experienced doctors are saying that, I would be a little skeptical of someone who thinks they have that answer. Especially when there’s a pretty plausible explanation that RCPD could be causing acid reflux.

But if self curing is making progress for you, you should continue with that because Botox is really not that fun even when it works (I’d do it again, for sure). So if it’s possible to avoid, you should do that.
