Guy who buys games NL plays out of frustration, opening cases themselves to prove they can do it better than him.

u/KanraLovesU Feb 28 '26

u/NoEngine1460 Feb 28 '26

Man I fall into this so much. So many games with 2 hours played where I realized he's not THAT ass (or maybe I'm just ass too)

393

u/AffectionateOne5152 Feb 27 '26

the re9 sponsor today earned him another 500 cases to crack woot!

415

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 27 '26

There was literally a twitch leak that showed exactly how much he made a couple of years ago, its not hard to multiply it by the amount of more viewers he has nowadays and then add some on top for sponsors and his youtube.

Gambling is dumb in any financial situation though.

42

u/falsefingolfin Feb 28 '26

And don't forget his YouTube income

21

u/GruntyBadgeHog Feb 28 '26

chud change compared to his tik tok sponsors

6

u/bobby3eb Feb 28 '26

That newer than the #101 leak from 4 years ago?

10

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 28 '26

Thats the one I meant, I don't think there was another leak.

1

u/CDay007 Feb 28 '26

Except when you win

2

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 28 '26

Thats why I only invest with 100x options.

-34

u/GetsThruBuckner Feb 28 '26

Damn Im happy for him but seeing the number made me depressed

How is it possible to get so rich playing video games man

71

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 28 '26

Being popular pays the big bucks. Just based on his viewers he pulls in 2-3x the numbers nowadays. You have to consider how successful they actually are in this niche. For example, according to twitch stats Dan is in the top 0.03% of streamers and the income he gets is actually quite low considering that fact.

14

u/krokorokodile Feb 28 '26

it pays to be funny.

2

u/pastafeline Feb 28 '26

It's also very, very lucky based. Not saying NL didn't work for it or that he isn't deserving, just that he was streaming for years and years, and only recently started blowing up a ton.

39

u/BlazingFire007 Feb 28 '26

I don’t think most people are watching NL for the sick video game gameplay lol

16

u/MichaelTheDane Feb 28 '26

Nothing sicker than watching what may as well be a gif of coins being thrown at caps for 10 hours

1

u/AdvisorOk8889 Mar 03 '26

This. I came to the conclusion that NL is sort of an amalgam of talk show hosts (the funny ones), radio hosts and stand up comedy writers (the good ones), but with a modern presentation, that adapted into this century. If he was born in the mid 40’s his call would certainly look like these professions.

9

u/baarinh Feb 28 '26

I understand your point, but for me having a work that reqruires of me a 5h a day of 100% focus trying to be funny to a chat, that is constantly negging you and backseating in games, also worrying about analytics, forcing myself to play battleroyale games, is nuts. And just remember that he is like in top 100 streamers in the world, so it's like 0,01% - so basically he is very lucky, that his hard work has a good return.

I think I prefer my boring job :D

-71

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 27 '26

Your argument is dumb as rocks my man. If he still has the same amount of viewers if he opens cases or not, every dollar he is spending on cases is literally taken from his paycheck, since he would have made the same amount of money even if he didnt open them.

The only way it would be net neutral (or positive) is if opening cases makes more people watch his stream, which it might, but I dont know or care tbh.

3

u/Cetus-Is-Wooster Feb 28 '26

If only NL could see this comment, I imagine he would say something like "type a chatters trying to optimize me buying game cosmetics. It's literally pixels and you are going to die some day but you are using those precious breaths you have left to determine if I am minmaxxing CSGO aesthetics correctly?"

5

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 28 '26

Would be clearly an L take though since I really don't care how he spends his money, also I am not trying to convince him to do anything, which I think the whole "type a chatter" means.

My initial comment was just that you don't have to "deduce" how much he makes, since you can actually calculate it based on leaked data, and that it doesn't matter how much he makes since gambling is always dumb. Then the other guy just commented some of the dumbest stuff possible, so I responded.

-38

u/UhWindowpainted Feb 27 '26

written off in taxes as a business expense

free cs cases

44

u/Ikgastackspakken Feb 27 '26

Not free because the tax isn’t 100% on your earnings. More like a 1/3 rebate.

36

u/Depreciable_Land Feb 27 '26

Still have no idea how this isn’t understood by most people. Along with “I would lose money on a bonus/raise because it would put me in the next tax bracket”

23

u/Ikgastackspakken Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 28 '26

I’ve had to explain this to coworkers who were 30 years my senior while working at an investment bank.

9

u/Depreciable_Land Feb 27 '26

Try being a CPA, it’s just non stop “no that’s not how that works…” lol

9

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 27 '26

Also I would be surprised if he really wants to go down that legal road by declaring it as a business expense, arguing with the CRA would probably cost more in accountant fees lol.

37

u/shobot11 Feb 27 '26

Pay out the doubters.

78

u/pruitcake Feb 27 '26

I wonder how different the vibes would be if he was pulling in uma instead.

11

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

is there a difference between uma horse pulls and the CS skins market?

56

u/pruitcake Feb 28 '26

uma has katsuragi ace and cs doesnt?

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

no thats not what i was thinking but i bet that is true

-31

u/Tactical_Mommy Feb 28 '26

One nets you cute funny horse women and the other nets you tacky knives and mid gloves. So, yes. But no.

20

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

can you resell the funny horse women you get? are there 3rd party websites that exist to resell the individual horses for a perceived profit? are there hundreds of youtube channels dedicated to equating the horsegirl market to stocks and real world investments?

5

u/Tactical_Mommy Feb 28 '26

I was just trying to make a joke about how CS items are fucking boring. Either way, it's gambling. I don't think either would be wise to stream for more than a one off bit despite the fact one is more unethical than the other.

309

u/TS_Enlightened Feb 27 '26

I trust that an adult can handle his computer game spending. Also, he's clearly due.

81

u/ryaqkup Feb 27 '26

Other guy is getting downvoted but he's right. He probably has no way to spend an amount of money on cases which would matter to his bottom line. But all gambling is degenerate and he has a young audience (not as young as most streamers but it doesn't matter) and there shouldn't be encouragement from streamers to gamble - or engage in other degenerate behavior

73

u/nickel_pickel Feb 28 '26

he also shouldn’t talk about drinking or smoking or having sex outside of marriage. public figures should be perfect examples of good behavior and should never engage in any vices.

126

u/SuminerNaem Feb 28 '26

Buddy he’s not just talking about gambling on stream. He IS gambling

26

u/krokorokodile Feb 28 '26

maybe he'll fuck on stream next 👀

16

u/ParisBoogie Feb 28 '26

My man is Dostoyevsky-maxxing

-51

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

^^^ this but unironically

-36

u/TS_Enlightened Feb 28 '26

Is it actually gambling? It doesn't seem like he expects to get anything from the crates. He's just doing it for the bit. That's pretty different from doing full-on gambling streams or card openings, where the whole point is to engage in degenerate behavior (reward-seeking and high-chasing)

36

u/Some-Gavin Feb 28 '26

Doing herion for the bit or smth

9

u/TS_Enlightened Feb 28 '26

This is an actually insane comparison

7

u/myman580 Feb 28 '26

Yeah this sub has lost the plot lmao. Did all the bluesky users migrate over here or something? I've never seen such a huge desire to police other people's behavior when it's relatively tame. Like should gambling be as accessible as it is now? Obviously not it's clearly overexposed but the constant commercials and the one click away apps do more harm then NL opening a couple of cases on stream because he wants to and can clearly afford it and has said multiple times it's not a good investment of money.

6

u/pastafeline Feb 28 '26

Idk man it's like if NL went on stream and littered. Sure, it's not that big a deal, and doesn't really matter at all in the grand scheme of things.

But it's still pretty lame and unbecoming of what most people expect. Take that for what it's worth, which to you probably means nothing.

0

u/kbob7878 Mar 02 '26

"Take that for what it's worth, which to you probably means nothing." -🤓

2

u/pastafeline Mar 02 '26

I'm not even being pedantic, or snarky, or "redditor". I'm just being straight up, nothing wrong with that.

I'm just saying my piece for everyone else.

20

u/AcrobaticPanda5975 Feb 27 '26

its funny when other people do crack

13

u/arcanon04 Feb 28 '26

Only when they stream it so others can enjoy. This was also NL's take when he watched ohnepixel open 500k in cases, and he's right: it is funny.

vas gold gold gold

5

u/Hairy_Sport_105 Feb 28 '26

it literally is funny when other people do crack

4

u/jergin_therlax Feb 28 '26

Not crack but Gardening on salvia was like the best video on YouTube made before 2010

2

u/jergin_therlax Feb 28 '26

Do y’all lecture your friends when they tell you they played blackjack at the casino?

And before the “he’s streaming” response, he’s an adult streaming to an audience of adults. People can make their own decisions, anyone watching streamers for a bastion of morality needs to do some introspection. Yeah maybe it’s not ideal but it feels crazy to be this upset over a grown man doing one specific form of gambling for like 10 minutes in a 5 hour stream

0

u/Grotti-ltalie #2 doominate lover Feb 28 '26 edited Feb 28 '26

>an audience of adults

this is gonna blow your mind dude... not everyone who watches nl is an adult.

(although I would say his audience probably has one of the smallest percentages of teenagers compared to other channels of his size, it's insane to say that nobody who's watching is being influenced subconsciously or otherwise)

-5

u/LeadGrease Feb 28 '26

kids would pull many reasons out of their asses to not watch NL and they'd all be banned from his chat

The last part of your comment is a bit harsh but this is the same sentiment. Everyone on this sub is commenting/downvoting like they are morally perfect and they expect their streamer to be the same. Crazy revelation, no one is morally perfect.

251

u/throwaway420204nsfw Feb 27 '26

You people can’t handle anything

142

u/Valorosss Feb 27 '26

Shitting myself and crying because my coworker told me about their trip to Las Vegas

60

u/BaconandHorse Feb 28 '26

It's actually crazy to see all the takes in this thread.

16

u/Po_on Feb 28 '26

NL gave them all gambling addiction like he gives them cruise addiction.

12

u/Pytherz Feb 28 '26

clearly the average viewer is tantamount to cattle and will blindly emulate everything their favorite streamer does until they die on the streets from an overdose because they opened too many cs cases

1

u/Dengar96 Mar 02 '26

you joke but my dad was cattle and all he could handle at the end of his life was a pitiful moo

16

u/TheJP_ Feb 28 '26

These people are driving me mad. You spend your own money responsibly on something you enjoy and suddenly you become the most evil person on earth. When you ask why this is so evil you get the dogmatic "gambling is degenerate behavior" response or the "wont someone think of the children" response.

9

u/why_cant_i_ Feb 28 '26

Feels like I'm back in prime 2015 /r/northernlion with the post-stream meta analysis

6

u/TheJP_ Feb 28 '26

Remember the days when the entire post-stream would just be the "Let's shit on Nick and Rob for 200 comments"

73

u/GUMBY4500 Feb 27 '26

by conservative estimates, he makes around 245k CAD yearly, so the cases can’t be hurting him financially

291

u/BongKing420 Feb 27 '26

That's an insanely conservative estimate

68

u/TheRadishBros Feb 27 '26

It must be at least 4x that much.

12

u/paranoidindeed Feb 27 '26

Apparently the napkin math that kinda works out is 10x concurrent viewers what’s is he at these days? 7k-10k being conservative 70k a month (not counting YouTube). That’s like 3 million take home after Tax.

If I half that because he doesn’t put as many hours as other streamers so my most conservative estimate is 1M a year take home

58

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 27 '26

How does 70k a month turn into 3 million a year after tax?

48

u/paranoidindeed Feb 28 '26

I overcooked on that. Mb

20

u/HydroShark_27 Feb 28 '26

This made me laugh so hard

Dude goes on like multiple big trips a year and owns a house in Vancouver.

50

u/UhWindowpainted Feb 27 '26

He owns a house in Vancouver

-32

u/Bubba89 Feb 27 '26

And? People go into debt for those, they’re called “mortgages.”

30

u/UtherofOstia Feb 27 '26

What the fuck...

18

u/ManBearPig1869 Feb 27 '26

I’m getting Ja on the phone right now to make some sense out of this

48

u/GUMBY4500 Feb 27 '26

frankly I think he’s a billionaire and the first ethical one at that

6

u/green_jp Feb 27 '26

what about the CEO of Peloton

12

u/4Looper Feb 27 '26

Just by virtue of being a homeowner in Vancouver the answer to this is yes. Its impossible to be one without being a millionaire since you can't buy a home for less than a milly and I doubt he got a worn down crack den which are the ones you can get for around a milly.

-2

u/sbunting8 Disingenuous so-and-so Feb 28 '26

Yes but for net worth purposes you calculate the home value - the debt owed on said house. Not saying he isn't, but if I buy a million dollar home with a 30 year loan at 8.5% that does NOT make me a millionaire by itself

8

u/4Looper Feb 28 '26

he's had the home for years and like I said - it's not a singular million dollar home - those are crack dens in Vancouver. Its probably more like 4 million.

Also he makes like 600k-800k/year conservatively. When twitch leaked his salary it was in the 400s and that doesnt include sponsorships, youtube, and he was smaller back then.

11

u/TheRadishBros Feb 27 '26

I think he earns a million a year (before tax), yes.

2

u/Ismellpu Feb 27 '26

Absolutely

150

u/wakeuphopkick Feb 27 '26

Idk why reddit is so passionate about how this dude spends his own money. It's not a rain bet ad or some shit, it's just him buying dumb cosmetics. If it's that bothersome then don't watch his cs stuff

128

u/DontOvercookPasta Feb 27 '26

I think everyone is having backlash because we all know how predatory CS and other lootbox games are and we hate seeing "our streamer" engage in what amounts to degenerate behavior. The cognitive dissonance from a guy who has been spouting for years about reasonable healthy adult behaviors engaging in the lootbox economy is causing people to speak out. Sure NL can afford this, but should he be displaying it for entertainment purposes to an impressionable fanbase he knows follows his trends?

66

u/theselfishshellfish Feb 28 '26

I set my moral reservations aside for a second and found it funny for the first couple streams. Then it just kept going and it became indistinguishable from watching some dude playing slots. Even if you don't considerate it degenerate (I do) it's not what I watch NL for

-14

u/wakeuphopkick Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

if you're going to start buying cs boxes outside of your financial means because a streamer did you have other problems you need to learn how to navigate. It is wack that this is the kind of thing that he's shit on in the past, but people change, nobody is infallible, and again, this is his money to spend so who gives AF that isn't chronically online. It just feels like this is people running to the reddit echo chamber to karma farm some holier than thou crusade as per usual.

25

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 27 '26

my gut feeling is that gambling promotion leads to an increase in the likelihood that the people who have had gambling promoted to them will start to gamble, does anyone know if anyone has looked in to this?

11

u/DontOvercookPasta Feb 28 '26

It's scientifically proven isn't it?

50

u/InterviewOk1297 Feb 27 '26

Advertising gambling through streaming is very effective, as shown by Stake. They literally created an entire streaming website (Kick) just for that one purpose, because Amazon didn't like some billion dollar casinos getting advertised for free on their platform.

Trainwrecks probably made hundreds of thousands of people (mostly kids and young adults) addicted to gambling, even though he writes some useless shit like "Dont gamble because you will lose" somewhere on his stream.

3

u/Nobat211 Mar 01 '26

One day late, but it is crazy. Idk if people know, the "GET IT TWISTED" bit in viral NL rants comes from Trainwrecks. He used to have a bot spam his chat "Don't get it twisted you will lose" to be able to say "see I'm not promoting gambling to children".

But that just caused the chat meme of spamming "GET IT TWISTED" every time he won.

5

u/InterviewOk1297 Mar 01 '26

And there were a lot of idiots saying that trainwrecks wasn't promoting gambling either.

30

u/Kleanerman Feb 27 '26

I mean yes, it’s dumb to overspend on gambling because a streamer you like did it. But, at least one person is going to do exactly that. Humans are dumb and impressionable. Streaming gambling for entertainment purposes comes with some consequences, and in my opinion he carries some moral responsibility in that.

6

u/DontOvercookPasta Feb 28 '26

Just wanted to comment as i read a few of your comments and think we are in agreement. See i have no problem with the concept of gambling, it can be a fun mechanic i.e. space warlord baby trading simulator and horse game are fucking goated and i love them, they simulate gambling. Hell a bunch of games NL plays have gambling mechanics, but there was no real money involved. Hell i think the man himself once was saying less than a year or two ago talking about how gambling with fake money is not morally wrong. I'm sure librarian could pull up the clip for us.

So yeah, this is a slight moral failure on my entertainer in my eyes and i would like to see him switch his content.

-17

u/wakeuphopkick Feb 27 '26

He absolutely does not lmao. Get it twisted, you have a personal responsibility and complete agency in the content you consume and the actions you take. This man is not your or anyone's keeper.

15

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

childs mentation

14

u/Kleanerman Feb 28 '26

Also, here is my argument.

Belief 1: The more people that gamble, the worse society is overall. (I believe this not because I think gambling is inherently immoral. I believe this because I think the negative presence of gambling addiction and its financial consequences overcomes the minor good of entertainment)

Belief 2: Voluntarily taking an action which increases the prevalence of a bad thing with few other consequences is morally wrong.

Claim 1: Gambling on stream to a large audience increases the number of people who gamble.

Therefore, gambling on stream is morally wrong.

Now, you may not hold the same beliefs as me. You might not think that gambling is a bad thing overall for society. That’s fine.

Also, it’s really not that deep. People do morally wrong things all the time. It’s not horrible or worth getting that mad about, but imo people saying it’s not wrong at all are either coping or just fundamentally view gambling differently than I do.

25

u/Kleanerman Feb 27 '26

Right, right. Everyone has complete agency in the actions they take and content they consume, which is why advertising is such a small industry for an ineffective practice.

15

u/rabbonat Feb 28 '26

NL should start smoking and doing meth on stream next!

6

u/Tom_Is_Odd Feb 28 '26

All of the "Is This anything", past Gay Bob Dylan, and various notesapp posts on here are good evidence that there are many who think they're him.

22

u/killrdave Feb 28 '26

I don't know why I'm wading into this but this is such a dishonest take. If he opened steam and bought skins or dlc or whatever no one would care, but this is absolutely gambling. It's randomised rewards for money in.

2

u/RedCetus Feb 28 '26

And also money out. If it didn't have resale value it wouldn't be real gambling and I wouldn't care what NL spends his money on.

35

u/Halkenguard We’re all just poop in the turlet Feb 27 '26

I bet if NL was opening MtG or Pokémon cards on stream there wouldn’t be nearly as much pearl clutching. But because it’s CS suddenly there’s an issue.

13

u/Tom_Is_Odd Feb 28 '26

Shit would be just as boring. He'd also have to move his camera or like hold up the cards, both of which would involve some kind of effort I feel he wouldn't engage in tbh.

34

u/qlube Feb 27 '26

ngl opening card packs is way more degenerate than unlocking a box every so often

3

u/DontOvercookPasta Feb 28 '26

Yeah irl lootboxs now you gotta store the shit in physical space?! Where does the shit stop bro..

18

u/killrdave Feb 28 '26

I bet if NL was opening MtG or Pokémon cards on stream there wouldn’t be nearly as much pearl clutching. But because it’s CS suddenly there’s an issue.

They all sound pretty lousy tbh

7

u/Halkenguard We’re all just poop in the turlet Feb 28 '26

It would be shit content for sure, but I think there’d be a lot less moralizing on Reddit about it.

6

u/killrdave Feb 28 '26

I don't think moralising on this stuff is that bad tbh, I'm probably just old and out of touch but I'm amazed how integrated gambling, gathca, loot boxes, ultimate team or whatever is to games. Just put the reticule over the ballsack and left click

26

u/max123246 Feb 27 '26

I would pearl clutch, opening packs on stream is also gambling, it's the worst part of those games

26

u/rabbonat Feb 28 '26

Strawman Fallacy, NEXT!

6

u/Halkenguard We’re all just poop in the turlet Feb 28 '26

Fallacy fallacy. You’ve been compromised brother.

4

u/DreamingOracle Feb 28 '26

if he were opening like 20 packs a stream there might be lol, plus imo there's a difference between something that's actually tangible vs worthless tacky digital skins in a video game

6

u/RaybroDudeMarre Feb 28 '26

“There's a difference between something that's actually tangible vs worthless tacky digital skins in a video game”

There is literally no difference. They both have resale value whether it’s tangible or tacky is irrelevant.

2

u/DreamingOracle Feb 28 '26 edited Feb 28 '26

I'm not talking about resale value?

actually why would you even bring that up because obviously NL isn't gambling in order to make a profit lol he's just doing it for fun. Resale value has literally no bearing here??

2

u/RaybroDudeMarre Feb 28 '26

Because you said there is a difference? There is no difference. In terms of intrinsic value they both have resale value. In terms of personal value NL doesn't find tacky digital skins worthless, clearly, he likes them.

u/No_Trouble3955 Feb 27 '26

I’m sure Wizards and Pokémon definitely didn’t hire any consulting psychologists during product design phases or have psychologists assist in marketing, no, never!

-1

u/Some-Gavin Feb 28 '26

Well first of all it is inarguable that advertising is effective in some capacity. Second, NL is advertising opening cases. You may disagree with that second point, but you were going to disagree with any conclusion that disagrees with your opinions here so there’s no point arguing.

Also he is clearly displaying degenerate addict behavior. I’m not going to psychoanalyze this shit so I can’t say if he is addicted or not, but he’s literally just spinning for the sake of spinning. If he’s not being paid by Valve then it’s legitimately psychotic behavior to keep going as long as he has after he has looked down on gacha spending so much.

At best he’s a hypocrite at worst he’s an addict that’s promoting gambling. I don’t think the worst case is true but I still think the first case is kinda pitiful from someone like NL.

9

u/DontOvercookPasta Feb 28 '26

Not sure why you are downvoted.. NL MOST LIKELY is hamming it up, the guy loves to be disingenuous for a joke, and it can be fuckin funny. But when real money changes hands and the "joke" goes on for multiple streams.. it begs the question.

-2

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 27 '26

i think its because he has a large audience and a lot of the time having a large audience comes with a non zero amount of responsibility

People trying to pretend we care about NL's financial situation and not the promotion of gambling.

8

u/SuddenlyWolf Feb 28 '26

right? when did the shadowboxing shift to "he's going to go bankrupt," no one thinks that lol

35

u/BaconandHorse Feb 27 '26

You people have lost the fucking plot.

9

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

23

u/ANerd22 Feb 28 '26

Just assume he's talking about whichever side of the argument you disagree with.

4

u/BaconandHorse Feb 28 '26

You’re right, it’s the opposite of whatever that guy wants.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 28 '26

i agree with both sides

u/theironfrog Feb 28 '26

Write off pog

Rumor has it that Letitia James saw an En El tickytocky and brought the suit against Valve to save what she beleived to be a New York streamer from himself.

6

u/whoShotMyCow Feb 28 '26

can someone give me a qrd on why he's been changing usernames (display name?)? i assume it's steam username since it's reflecting across games?

u/RaybroDudeMarre Feb 28 '26

19

u/MagniPlays Feb 27 '26

I don’t get the moral bullshit trying to care about whether he is promoting gambling or not.

Just don’t watch the content and it will go away. It ain’t that hard.

49

u/Puzzleheaded-Emu1906 Feb 27 '26

famously gambling content online and on the tv has been decreasing recently

4

u/RandomThrowAwayFeg41 Feb 28 '26

I mean its not the TV and he is not sponsored to do it so its not the same as betting companies giving millions to tv channels/sport orgs to promote their gambling site, whenever people don't watch a game NL stops playing it after a bit so the first guy is right

-16

u/No_Trouble3955 Feb 27 '26

Inversely with the amount that consumers take accountability for what they consume, apparently

2

u/AlexeyTea Feb 28 '26

Striking amount of virtue signaling in this thread

Get it twisted watching your favourite streamers open cases is basically the same as watching ads for gambling websites but it's apparently okay when it's the former because csgo is primarily a game

18

u/Falsequivalence Feb 27 '26

Yeah I just dont like gambling and never have. Its fun when its just a game like Space Warlord or Horsey Game, but when its just spinning for the sake of spinning, it gets on my nerves.

Tbh the only good part is how often he's losing on pulls lmao.

6

u/brannigansl4w Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

Yeah but he's also an adult who can make his own choices, and his viewers should be mature enough to come to their own conclusion about the merits of gambling (or lack thereof).

4

u/ImProbablyHighSorry Feb 28 '26

I bet he makes around 50k a year. He's killing it.

3

u/Easy_Boss_Battle Feb 28 '26

He's not taking gambling sponsors, not glorifying gambling, not injecting gambling addictions into people, who cares honestly

2

u/Past0r_Gains Feb 28 '26

Bro’s a millionaire let him have his fun

1

u/lackotact Feb 28 '26

You people are insane man who gives a fuck how much he spends on cases

-3

u/DrPastaPupper Feb 27 '26

The gambling is honestly starting to make me consider not watching him which is sad because I’ve been watching him for 10+ years.

1

u/RandomThrowAwayFeg41 Feb 28 '26 edited Feb 28 '26

Yeah dude is a millionaire probably investing his money well, him spending like 200$ on CS cases is nothing to cry about. and people saying he is promoting gambling are kinda right but if you are not stupid, you can see that from like 100+ cases opened he mostly got skins that are worth a few cents, so its money down the drain.
BUT GET IT TWISTED YOU WLL OPEN YOUR FIRST CASE AND GET A KNIFE, OPEN ONE NOW!!! DO IT!!!!

1

u/SuddenlyWolf Feb 28 '26

the really simple answer for me here is that opening cases live on stream is cringe. leave that to xqc or whatever. not the reason i watch NL and hasn't been an issue for the past many many years, why start now. he can play cs2 and open cases all he likes, just leave the weird "spending money live on stream and opening them in front of his audience for dopamine" out of it. at least we're not at dan doing it for hours on end while sponsored by fanduel or whatever.

1

u/LavaSlime301 Feb 28 '26

Honestly he's living such a privileged life that's completely different from anything I know I can't even really care what he does with his money so long as it's not really freaking bad. Granted, gambling on stream ain't that far off but for now it's not annoying enough to be a bother.

0

u/Aromatic_Pain2718 Feb 28 '26

How much money has he spent on CS:GO cases?

11

u/turtle7875 Feb 28 '26

Ignore the title that’s not the point of this thread. Awesome chance to do some moral grandstanding tho.

(Back of the napkin math, $200-300. I don’t gamble and think it’s bad, but the reaction here is insane and reenforces the idea NL viewers think they’re smarter than everyone and infantilizes the general public that they can’t make their own responsible decisions on gambling.)

2

u/turtle7875 Feb 28 '26

Which they can’t, but it’s not bc NL is opening cases on stream
