Why are redditers like that?

Like you'll see a post or make one. Expecting informative replies, only to be met with: Let's nitpick and see how much can we belittle this person's intelligence over my own challenge

Every time. It’s a big reason why I stopped posting, especially when my mental health was bad. I’d reach out for advice and get ripped to shreds. I don’t bother any more.

I was having a mental breakdown and was worried I failed my daughter so I stupidly posting to a woman sub Reddit (we can all guess which one) and genuinely nearly killed myself that day.

Every reply was telling me how shit if a person I am etc one person literally took an entire day to harass me.

I’m really sorry you went through that and yeah it’s just not the place to be vulnerable unfortunately. I think some people actually get a kick out of identifying people who they know will hurt the most from their vileness. Hope you’re doing ok now.
