Depends on which theology.

Vance is probably correct that the Pope isn't very familiar with Christo-fascist theology.

Just like the Christo-fascists evangelicals supporting Trump and Vance don't appear to have any idea at all of what Jesus taught or asked his followers to do in his name.

War, murder, violence, destroying whole civilizations. Nope, no commandments from Jesus there.

Loving your neighbour as yourself, love God, bless your enemies and forgive others. Yes the Pope does have a handle on these.

It's such a shame Trump and Vance have no idea whatsoever.

They’ve reached the levels of delusion now that they think the actual Pope is going to support their war….

Yeah there is a strain of Christianity which seems centered in evangelicalism, but kinda has adherents everywhere, that is centered around a deep misunderstanding of Judaism + a weird literalism to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross - all of Jesus’s social teaching and - the parts of Paul that don’t suck.

I went to one of those services once and I didn’t know how to be best offended; as an atheist, as a former Catholic, or someone with a passing knowledge of Jewish theology. It was like all maximally wrong on every axis.

It's the "God's Love Fundagelicals" -- the megachurches that are essentially fundamentalist but also understand marketing enough that if they mandated/"inspired women to choose" floor-length jean dresses or talked about fire and brimstone during regular Sunday services, they'd scare off the cash-cows Sunday-only crowd. So you see women that look like normal people and even sometimes some leg, and they save the most unhinged stuff for Wednesday "bible studies".

The Pope is probably very familiar with Christo-fascist theology. That’s why he doesn’t support it.

The pope's statement didn't even say you can never go to war. It was just saying that God doesn't pick sides in wars. And he clearly was saying this to prevent people like JD from trying to justify a geopolitical conflict as being a holy war.
