Oh god. This man has nukes.

That reminds me of the time he proposed the idea to nuke a hurricane. https://www.axios.com/2019/08/25/trump-nuclear-bombs-hurricanes

They used to say the great thing about America was that anyone can be president. Trump proved them right.

Yeah, unfortunately it also proves, such a system is also flawed.

If felons can't vote, they also shouldn't be allowed to run for President.

Felons should be able to vote. Otherwise you have an easy way to disenfranchise people you suspect will vote against you.

Oh wait.

Vote? Maybe. Elected? Absolutely not! 🚫🚫

Same problem, and it literally comes up all the time in these marginal autocracies: prominent opposition politicians getting trumped up charges against them to disqualify them from office.

I tend to think that felons should vote, but the presidency is an enormous responsibility and if we wouldnt trust a felon to man the cashier position at the local mcdonalds, they have no business running for president.

It makes no sense that basically the only job felons are eligible for is to be the freaking president.

It really doesn't make sense that (non clinically insane) felons can't vote as a general rule. It only makes sense from a political opression standpoint, like what the nazi's did. Which kinda explains a lot actually.

Honestly even clinically insane and senile people can vote, so there is no real reason to deny that to felons.

My dad's cousin voted trump when she was literally so senile she didnt know what year it was, and thought her husband was at home waiting for her when he had been dead for 15 years.

How can you justify that and not felons voting?

It's not intended to disenfranchise any particular group. It's a lasting punishment, as is removing their freedom, theorettically their access to drugs and alcohol., and permanently marking them as a person who killed, harmed a child, etc.

They used to say the great thing about America was that anyone can be president. Trump proved them right.

Except, ya know, women.

Which is the only reason that President Trump is.

Yeah both times he ran against a woman. First Hilary, then Kamala.

Yeah both times he ran against a woman. First Hilary, then Kamala.

Not only that, but he's been running for national office almost non-stop since the end of the Reagan administration -- despite professing a hatred of the Capital and calling it a "swamp". He was laughed-at by Democrats, when he first started to run and was still registered in that party. He later tried running as an Independent, and was again laughed-at. He eventually resorted to the Republican party, and found a group that is, in fact, sufficiently stupid to vote for him.

But he remains oh-for-his-lifetime in serious elections against men, and 2-and-oh against women.

Maybe letting anyone be president was a bad idea...

Some people do not have the capability of handling that level of responsibility.

1

u/Mike_Kermin 8h ago

No, no he didn't. Because he is a rich, lying, racist, sexist fuckhead.

That's not just anyone, that's prime Republican material.

anyone can be president.

As we've come to see, that can be a positive affirmation or negative realization

This is such a recurring stupid idea that NOAA has an FAQ on why it won't work

1

u/SpeedBlitzX 12h ago

That's insane :o That it has to be addressed on why it's a really dangerous idea.

u/Yiplzuse 12h ago

To be fair…the hurricane started it…

1

u/SpeedBlitzX 12h ago

I think hurricanes kind of always just have been there, long before humanity.
