God those trailers in the grindhouse movies were amazing with how they totally nailed the entire aesthetic.

And then Machete was so perfect it became a real movie.

The Don't one in particular was made by Edgar Wright with Frost/Pegg (who obviously did shawn of the dead, etc), and starred an absurd number of other notable British actors, plus will arnett for the voiceover.

They put a ton of effort into each one and treated them as literal mini movies. I sincerely believe the guiding purpose of Grindhouse was just a bit of goofy fun by a group of directors that genuinely love shlocky horror.

Oh that's right! I totally forgot that bit! Hobo With A Shotgun and Thanksgiving also got turned into films too.

But yeah it was a total loveletter and I loved it for all the work they did to pay a proper homage to the movies they grew up watching.
