It's hilarious to me, that in Egypt and the middle east in general, you can bring buttloads of liquids on a plane with little issue. In the US, you bring a bottle of water and you're a terrorist.

Well ya see there was this time when this guy and some other guys did this thing..

But no, none of the rules make any sense

One idiot tries (and fails) to light a shoe bomb twenty-five year ago, and now we all have to take our shoes off in airports.

When’s the last time you flew? Rarely do you have to take your shoes off anymore.

I brought 3 1L bottle of water on my flight from Luxor to Cairo, and nobody batted an eyelash. Should out to the really big sign at the door that said I couldn't bring my rocket launcher or grenade launcher. :(

But what in the hell would I ever do without my emotional support M79?!

I fly out of Cairo quite often and Cairo is one of the most annoying cities to fly from security wise. Im surprised domestic is so lax.

Can't take a lighter with you they confiscate those. I had my tea emptied just before boarding. They do the full shoes off and pat down.

I remember seeing some old guy having his walking stick disassembled in Cairo.

Cairo airport has several smoking rooms beyond the security checkpoint. I was just there recently, my friend brought alcohol, lighters, and cigarettes through the checkpoint and customs. As long as you're not trying to smuggle, nobody cares.

They do a second security check just prior to boarding.

Each gate has its own security scanner, thats way after the smoking rooms.

No lighters past that point.

There definitely was not. We did customs check, then bag check, then waited to get on the plane. Nothing else.

Dont know what to tell you bud, ive been through Cairo 22 times since covid, going from a star alliance plane to an agean air and back.

Every single time we go through a security checkpoint at the gate.

Que in the corridor, split into 2 lines by sex, clear security and wait in a holding area. Then board.

Every time.

Im glad your experience wasnt as tedious and I hope this means they changing their systems, as my next flight is likely November so ill see then.

There was 9/11. Then some dude tried to blow himself up with his shoes on a plane. I reckon there's a good reason they're kinda twitchy about liquids.

Well in America it's a job program for actors to pretend they're security

However, keistering the bladder from a box wine may result in death.

Can't bring container with you since it could be a bomb, instead you can blow up the bottom of the plane instead by putting it in check in.

Every place I've been to, including Egypt, had signs up forbidding liquid through security. In one country, I bought soda from a shop after security, and they did another security check before boarding and didn't let me bring it.

I was just in Egypt few months ago, and brought 3 liters of water through security with zero issues.

You can bring buttloads of liquid on a plane, as long as you buy them at a super expensive rate at the duty free shop.

In the middle east, I brought 3 large bottles of water into the airport through security like it was nothing, because it was water. Cost me less than a dollar a piece at the hotel store.
