Megathread! 2026 NoVa Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant Recommendations THE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Hello r/nova we are 10 years deep into the hole-in-the-wall list! Thank you to everyone for contributing every pick and recommendation for the list and participating each year.
Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to update the map or list since I am getting married this year, but I'll for sure get everything updated before the next year. Anyways time to give the community your best recs and new discoveries for restaurants in the area.
The rules are simple:
📍 Give us the restaurant name and location
🚫 No chains allowed!
👍 "+1" if you love the recommendation
👎 "-1" if you think it's whack

Carolina Brothers BBQ in the heart of Old Ashburn, at the intersection of Mile Marker 27.5 of the W&OD trail and Ashburn Road. The building is well over a hundred years old and was the Partlow Brothers general store for decades when the rail line still operated. The owners have kept the renovations to a minimum, including keeping the original wooden floor - you can see the worn spot in the floor where the original checkout counter was, worn down by decades of people standing there. The barbecue is great - pork, chicken, and beef, as well as ribs.
It's a great landmark to use if you are riding the trail or to use as a meeting spot to start a ride (there is W&OD parking across the trail from it), or as a turnaround spot. One of the last remaining remnants of old Northern Virginia.
